Swatch SUOW705 wrist watches news:
What do Paul Newman, James Bond, and Jean-Claude Killy have in common? In addition to being pop-culture icons, each is famously associated with a particular model of Rolex watch. And each of these models will be represented this week at Antiquorum‘s auction of vintage and modern timepieces.Antiquorum, the world’s leading auctioneer of fine watches, holds its last auction of the year on December 13 at its U.S. headquarters in New York City. There will be 340 modern and vintage timepieces offered, led by a number of valuable Rolex models.Among the headline pieces is a Rolex Ref. 6241 Daytona in yellow gold; this reference is well-known to collectors as a rare “Paul Newman” model, distinguished by its dial design, which derived its name from the fact that it was the watch the famous actor wore regularly once he began his hobby of automobile racing. Made in the 1960s, this watch is a round-button chronograph with the reference’s distinctive cross-hair subdials
Well, the weather here was horrible today, so took the little one to the mall to stroller around some. Of course, being at the mall, I had to do some window watch shopping. Luckily it was the mall, a place I'd never buy a watch at as the prices are way too much compared to the other AD's...However, in one of the Rolex dealers I picked up 2 "new" (well, maybe not so new) rumors about new models The salesman said the info is 'straight from the Rolex rep who is right there with what's happening in the Rolex corporate offices & would know everything about the new models coming out" (yes - I kept a straight face as he told me this! ).. Anyways, the story was:1) a new 42mm Sea-Dweller (and the 40mm will stay in the line-up)2) A 40mm Day-DateOk, so nothing earth shattering. I wouldn't be surprised by either, and the thickness of the SD over the Sub would definitely fit a 42mm very well, maybe even better than a 40mm size. IMO a 42mm SD, new solid center bracelet links (keeping it br

I was attending my friends son's bris (ritual circumcision ) this morning and one of our mutual friends is a manufactures rep for several jewelry lines showed me his new 42mm Rolex Explorer with the polar dial. He also has a Bluesy TT so it's not like he is completely watch inept turned to me and asked what was I wearing so I show him my new AP Rubberclad. He says, who makes that? I look at him in semi shock and say its an Audemars Piquet. He says never heard of them.Seriously??? You are in the jewelry biz and are in stores almost everyday and have never heard of AP? Nope he says.Anybody else think this is kind of shocking given the history of the brand? I would figure most people wouldn't know an AP from a Timex but a guy who is in a jewelry store all the time? Are there not that many AP AD's out there that it would be rare to see them?Interesting...
