Please can someone advise on gifted Vacheron re authenticity?
Hi, my husband has been given a watch by his Father that claims to be a Vacheron Constantin Chronograph, although as we do not know how to tell the difference and it was a gift to his Father several years ago, we would appreciate an experienced take on things. I have attached some photos - please ignore the strap, that has been changed for preference, the original one is still around. The calender runs out at the end of 2015. Any thoughts would be appreciated, I hope I have posted in the right forum.

Greetings gents,,,As some of you know I have been lusting after the 5131J/R for few years. Being an airline captain flying around the globe week in week out I thought this amazing piece would be fitting to own and one day and look at all the cities and World enamel dial knowing I have touched down all over it would be an amazing achievement. After knocking on doors all over the World at various Patek Philippe ADs and even writing a personalized letter direct to Mr Stern I soon realised this piece is mission impossible anywhere near retail price.. Anyway cut a long story short I recently parted with my gorgeous 5980R and 5712 (very reluctantly this one) added some cash and finally got my hands on a sealed 5131R from a good friend here in Dubai. I am over the moon with the watch as it typifies everything that Patek is about with the calavatra style case and enamel dial of the World, and the Rose gold is awesome too.Hope you enjoy few photos and I am sure I will be adding more soon.. two watch collection
I've been spending too much time on this forum and it's bad for my health. Considering consolidating my collection to two watches. Flipped the 5167a since it didn't sing to me quite like I had hoped, and same for my offshore. Been thinking about the 5164, 5167r, 5712, AP 15202, or smurf sub. JLC Jubilee ultrathin platinum would be the other watch. I'm waiting for the 5711, but it's been a year at my dealer still with some others ahead of me, so im not going to hold my breath for that one. I'm also particular to the dual time of the 5164, and the chocolate dial of the 5167r. Smurf sub seems like an ideal only watch, but I was irritated by the flak I got for my 16610lv just because it was a rolex (even tho I never got comments on my ap or patek or jlc). Just curious what everyone's thoughts are.
