TW Steel CE1013 wrist watches news:
Hey guys!I've been pretty busy these days putting in a lot of shop time. Here are some of my recent restorations that I have finished up with, most are Elgin but there are a couple others as well..1918 Elgin "Black Star Dial" Trench Watch, Fahys sterling silver "armored" case with an integrated crystal guard.1918 Elgin Trench Watch, GIANT size 6s, semi-hermetic Illinois nickel case, correct military dial and hands that have been re-lumed.1916 Elgin Trench Watch, size 0s, Illinois nickel silver case with a hinged case back, re-lumed dial and hands.1917 Elgin Trench Watch, size 3/0s, Philadelphia sterling silver case with a hinged case back, RED 12 enamel dial with a "Made in USA" stamp.WWI Hampden Transition Trench Watch, size 3/0s, Durber "silverine" case with a hinged bezel, this is a "lever arm" set movement. While not American this is a VERY nice 1923 Rolex Trench Watch, sterling silver case with a hinged case back, 34mm case, black and white enamel dial. The second watch, the 1918 Gia
I am on this vintage diver kick lately (thanks Scott) and ran across this on the 'bay. I enjoy GMT movements and the watch looked in pretty good shape. So, this arrived:I will do a full post and pictures later - but my question to forum. I assumed the center stack hand with the orange markings to be the GMT hand, and thus move with the hour hand (I didn't expect a 24 hour hand). This is not the fact however. It is a second hand that travels with the smaller (sub) seconds register at 6. I have not seen a watch that did this - doesn't mean much - I haven't seen a lot. Just curious if I am working with a franken, a watch that was "repaired" incorrectly, or the real deal - that's just how it was.Any insight is definitely appreciated. Thank you! B
