TW Steel TW-82 wrist watches news:
After the launch of A. Lange & S?hne shops in Dresden, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul, the brand from Saxony has opened its fifth boutique, in Hong Kong. Lange’s goal for the boutique is to bring the precision, quality and ambiance of traditional German watchmaking to its customers in an intimate and in-depth manner. A. Lange & S?hne was founded by Dresden watchmaker Ferdinand A. Lange in 1845. Lange crafted pocket watches of exceptional quality that are today coveted by collectors. However, the family business was expropriated in the aftermath of World War II. Four decades later, after the wall came down, Walter Lange, the great-grandson of Ferdinand A. Lange, resumed the work of his forefathers, and today the brand has regained its place among the leading manufacturers of precision timepieces. Lange produces fewer than 5000 pieces each year, and since its rebirth, it has presented 40 in-house developed manufacture movements that have won numerous international awards. Like
It may be a bold statement, but I like to think about the brand Richard Mille as both the jester and the rocket scientist within the fictional realm of haute horlogerie.?Since its launch?in 2001, and especially during the last couple of years, it has not only dreamt big time and time again, bringing down at least some of the old-fashioned walls which?older governors of fine watch making had built around themselves, but also had the know-how to back up those extremely bold ideas and realize them.Probably the first logical question that springs to mind upon a first encounter with the brand is the question of "why?" as in, why?would anyone build?their company?on the fundaments of admittedly?and consistently bold designs and ideas coupled with?luxury pricing? Time provided the answer: because it works. The first page in the success story of the luxury sports watch has arguably been written by the Royal Oak of Audemars Piguet, demonstrating the validity of this market segment. Adam has mentioned how important it is to do your homework. Here's a perfect example:I want a caliber 30L for my Longines collection. I recently had one bought unseen which turned out not to be what I was looking for. It wasn't in the type of condition I would feel comfortable selling it in, so I had it serviced and restored. After eBay and Paypal took their cuts and my watchmaker got paid, at least I nearly got my money back out of it. I took a gamble that didn't hurt too much because I knew the movement was sought after. Now that it's sold, I started to hunt it's replacement. I thought I found it with this watch:Vintage LONGINES Silver Arrow, 18 kts gold, excellent - eBay (item 230494786557 end time Jul-09-10 12:54:34 PDT)Nice, right? Hey Guys,I have recently taking a liking to the Navitimer. That said I prefer a smaller sized watch preferably at the 40mm level and defintley not exceeding 41mm.In the little research Ive done I note a lot of the modern versions are quite large and hoped the forum could perhaps summarize the models and options I should search for. I'm not adverse to vintage that said I can go either way, the only caveats are size and cost.Which vintage and which more modern version should I look out for and why? Thanks
I know I will get some heat for this but.... I never looked at Rolex as a timepiece like I looked at my PP/VC/IWC etc.... mostly as a daily casual and some staples for my collection (sub/GMT/Daytona), but I'm catching up on my mail after getting back from the Caribbean and got my Love Package from Hellmut Wempe and the new Rolex Cellini Moonphase in 18k rose gold just screamed at me..... I think its the 1st time ive been in love with a rolex..... I might have to put that deep blue on hold......but.... I am afraid that like my PP/VC and other beautiful dress ones.....it wont see the light of day as much as my casual rotation does.......:( but.... nicely done Rolex..... nicely done....
