People starve to be different. The least likely of places you¡¯d expect find individualism was Soviet-controlled Ukraine in the 1970s. Let me tell you about finding uniqueness among the seemingly generic, and a person that discovers and displays it.It was purely accidental that I learned about Olga Narozhna and her work. She is a one of the kind artist, hard to find if you are not looking in the right places. Olga is an artist consumed with the representation of time. Most of her work incorporates some component from a watch or clock, working or in fragmented form. The imagery of time is beautiful to Olga, ¡°I see clocks as art, and then as the time.¡±Artists like Olga don¡¯t exist to be found, so one has to probe. eBay is a waypoint for the interesting, the hard to get, and the value-endowed. Well after months of pondering and a final decision made last week I finally bought my first AP with our trusted seller DavidSW. I dealt with Dan from DavidSW as I had dealt with him on something else in the past. He was amazing to deal with and very patient to answer many phone calls and texts. It arrived this morning from Orlando and u rushed home as my wife called to say that Fedex truck showed up again!I went with the SS diver as I am in love with this particular model. One thing that I have definitely learned on this beloved forum is that what I once thought was a great thing... In fact is not!!!I am talking about getting my watches serviced by the Omega Service center.Case in point about my 2531.80 SMP that I bought new in 1998 and that has been serviced three times by Omega in that span... Including the last one where they changed the bezel that was a bit banged up (but really nothing bad) and especially all three hands (the orange tip of the second hand had faded, and the minute hand seemed a bit corroded around the tip, may be due to the luminova?). Anyhow, my point is that at time, the watch came almost as new, and I was psyched. Fast forward a couple of years, and I now realize that I should have kept it in as original state as possible in order to keep building the patina. May seem ridiculous but I am planning on passing this watch (and the other ones) to my son someday. Question for you: although this is not a rare or vintage watch by any str

Why is there a shortage of SS sports models? 20 years ago it seemed like every AD had doubles of every SS sports model and was readily offering discounts.Is it that the current typical buyer is more sporty in fashion and taste?As in, the older generation would pick something on a strap or something like a Datejust?It appears to my untrained eye that Rolex isn't meeting demand. Are they disconnected to the economic trends? Perhaps, not too concerned - being a charity?Or, maybe they are shrewder then they appear - letting out SS models at a trickle, further pushing up their brand?
