Titanium is one of the most prolific elements on Earth, but extruding it from its basic ore is an expensive and time consuming effort. A processing method developed in the 1930's by Wilhelm Kroll spawned the use of the metal in the 1950's. Since titanium is almost 50% lighter and about 30% stronger than steel it became a natural choice for the aerospace industry. An added bonus is it's superior corrosion & heat resistance. The marine industry also uses titanium; the Navy builds submarines & propellers from it along with engine parts & shafts. When exposed to air it oxidizes like other metals. The difference is it doesn't rust - it forms a protective surface shield which makes it immune to salt water corrosion. This fact didn't go unnoticed by manufacturers since it makes a great material for dive watches. Chronomat 41mm/44mm/47mm
I purchased a beautiful Chronomat GMT LE 47mm recently and whilst I loved the watch, when I wore it for a few days it made my white gold Daytona seem too small.I'd then wear my Daytona (my absolute favourite watch) for a few days and the 47mm Breitling would look way too big.I therefore sold the 47mm, bypassed the Chronomat 44 and I have just purchased a beautiful Chronomat 41. Hello all, I have a question. I have noticed on occasion what some noted as the dreaded corrosion on their hands of the watch, on watches that are for sale. Is this a isolated case with some models, or something that happens from time to time?. As i have an itch getting either a Pam 24 or 25. I think I'm leaning towards the 25 due to the dial, love the waffle look. Either way, the more I look at Panerai watches the more I want one or two of them. Many thanks in advance.

Coke GMT looming = end of the BLNR?
So now that Rolex has released the SS BLRO with a new movement, could the BLNR be discontinued and be replaced with a long awaited Coke GMT in a couple of years?- After the Sub has had it updates next year of course!Would love to hear your thoughts on this subject thanks.

18206 bezel
Did the 18206 ever come with a fluted bezel? I¡¯m looking at one with a fluted WG bezel and guessing that¡¯s not correct to the watch.
