Patek Philippe 2525 wrist watches news:
I dropped by one of my AD's today to see if they had a DDII, I was yet to try one on.They did indeed have one and I loved the size but I think I can wait for the DatejustII in stainless I am not going to drop nearly 30grand on a watch 8 to 10 grand maybe.I also tried on a steel white Daytona which they had in the case, probably the same one they had when I was there a few months ago. It has been my grail for quite awhile but it is slowly losing its appeal to me and here's why. I have a Speedmaster moon watch that I love, everytime I put on a Daytona the dial seems too small. It seems like putting a chronograph dial in a 40mm case makes it too busy which makes the dimensions seem wrong to me. I love the dimensions of the other 40mm Rolex's but I am just having trouble getting past this on the Daytona. IMHO they should have put the DDII and DJII in a 40mm case and the Daytona's in a 41mm or 42mm. Am I crazy? Is it just me or do others see what I am talking about?
When is your watch no longer your watch? I was recently poking through mail order watch site (parts, tools, movements) and came across the movement used in my Hamilton for a paltry $195 new and it got me to wondering if rather than having my watch serviced in the long run (even the short run) I¡¯m better off just replacing the movement.A service on my watch is in the neighbourhood of $130 and if I¡¯m doing that every 4 years it won¡¯t take long before I far exceed the retail replacement cost of just pulling the movement. Especially considering in the past I've kept my watches at least 10 years, usually more. But is it the same watch?I¡¯m kind of the opinion that once the movement has been replaced the watch doesn¡¯t have the same sentimental attachment for me. The watch is no longer the one that travelled through Belgium on my wrist or was with me when I got married. I like a watch for what it is as a whole. Replace the innards and it might as well be a different watch.Do others feel this
Here are a few recent purchases. The Rotary and Vostok Europe were quick turnoversI also received a G-Shock Atomic Solar digital new for $35 and an Alpha Tortue. The G-Shock was sold as cosmetically flawed, but:a) I can't find a mark on it. b) It's a G-Shock and will be used as my hiking/outdoor watch so a cosmetic flaw wouldn't matter anyway.I also just ordered a Seiko Premier Kinetic Chronograph. I've really become a fan of Seiko Kinetics, particularly since I learned my Orbita winders work great for charging them up!Anyway, here are the photos.IMG_9509.jpgIMG_9506.jpgIMG_9512.jpg
If both were available at similar price point, which would you choose?Appreciate your opinions in advance.
I would apriciate some feedback regarding two Radiomir models. I've had a Pam 359, trade it and now I want another Pam. But this time a Radiomir: golden hands, manual wound movement ( manufacture), no date, 44-47mm, sandwich dial and wire lug case. It is down to a Pam 424 or Pam 685. Tried them both. Love them both. I know the 685 is special edition but California Dial is a classic. Another important fact may be the price. Found the 424 at almost half of the price of 685, both BNIB.Wich one would you choose? Or if you have another model in mind that would have all of the specs above I'm open for suggestions.Cheers IMG_4895.JPG
