IWC Connect, An Activity Tracker Integrated Into The Strap Of Big Pilot, And Soon To Be All IWC Sport Watches
Here we go again. Today, IWC made the announcement of a new accessory called IWC Connect. This digital device fits onto the strap of mechanical IWC watches – at first just the Big Pilot – and provides full activity tracking. Further, IWC claims it will be able to control certain devices connected to the "Internet of things," the buzzword du jour. Very, very few details are provided on IWC Connect, or how it will compare to Montblanc's e-strap that you will remember launched in January to much buzz. Official Timekeepers of Major Sporting Events = BS??
I recently blogged about Hublot being the official timekeepers at the 2010 FIFA World Cup (read it here). That's a bunch of BS, right? I mean, there's no way the referees are running around with this watch:My guess is that the refs are running around in Timex watches - so Timex is really the official sponsor. And Hublot is the official watch advertiser.

My First Omega - Seamaster Planet Ocean 2200.50
I have never had the chance to own an Omega - until today! When my purchase from TRF arrived. It is the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 45mm. I was so eager to put it on when I opened the box; only to find out that the links, are not as easy to remove like the Rolexes or the easy strap-changing system of the Panerais. It was too late to bring it to the watchmaker to have the links removed to fit me; so what I did was this - put it on my black NATO strap which has been sitting on my drawer unused for about a year! Was able to utilize my NATO; and it worked out great! Oh, and by the way... IT LOOKS AWESOME!!!! Wanna see???

ROO vs Aquanaut
As my daily watch I currently have a Steel AP Royal Oak Offshore which I am looking to 'trade in' for something a little more fancy, I want a bit of rose gold in my daily watch!The obvious upgrade would be a 44mm rose gold Offshore, but I think it is just a little too much, though I absolutely love how it looks on it's own, not sure when I wear it...That leaves me looking today at the PP store and admiring the Rose Gold Aquanaut, 5164R.Whilst the ROO 44mm and 5164R are very different in style, I have somehow narrowed it down to these two! They both have rubber straps, rose gold, useful complications and are just beautiful watches. The PP is a slimmer design, so less likely to get knocked than the bulky ROO, but has a more easily scratched rose gold bezel, compared to the ROO's ceramic.The price of both is similar as I plan on buying brand new from my local AD, neither brand would offer discounts on list price.Any thoughts on either of these watches - particularly as a daily watch?
