I just unpacked this. =) maverick
On a general principle, I prefer to buy EVERYTHING from a small mom & pop operation instead of the huge corporation. If I can eat at an owner-operated restaurant over an 'Outback Steakhouse,' well, I'm going to do that every time. If I can buy a shovel from a small owner-operated hardware store, than I will even pay a little more for it than at Home Depot. Why? Because when small business leaves town, we are all in serious trouble. I'm a small business guy myself, and if I were not, my choice would be to work for minimum wage while risking my life. Now, to watches. I know of few real small watch operations. I know there are a few companies like Rolex who remain independent. I salute that. But I no longer care that some person actually touched my watch in the manufacturing process. I accept that everything is automated, and the scale of operation is quite large. I also understand that computer processes and robotic operation is insanely precise - far beyond what a shaky hu
hi pals, as a fan of TagHeuer timepieces, here is my latest acquisition, the Aquaracer Calibre S.as some of you may know the Calibre S is an in-house movement developed, patented a entirely manufactured by TagHeuer.this movt is awesome, goog looking, modern and extremely accurate.this is a 43mm watch that looks and feels awesome on the wrist, and off course, the superb fit and finish and overall quality you get on a TagHeuer timepiece.i also own the metal bracelet, but prefer the rubber band for this one.nice watch, really, now tell me what you think...
Hi Folks: Though I got the idea from the "Illinois" area (see: " Illinois Watches, as far as the eye can see!") I have run into quite a few places where people discuss this or that dial that has been reconstructed or replaced. When I read on the cited thread that Illinois might have produced a customized dial as even a "single" (thats "one-off" for the Brits among us) it left me wondering if folks have done anything custom for their favorite watch or pocket watch. Again, I am not talking about making a piece "like new" as much as adding a kind of personalized touch to a favorite. Anybody? Pics? Best Wishes, Bruce
Decision time! I am thinking about adding a 214270 and leaning more to the MK2 side than MK1... So I've been to 2 ADs hoping to try on a MK2 but no luck on that, in fact they barely have any SS sport models in stock. Anyone know of any dealers in the LA area that have a MK2 in stock? Any kind of discount can be had on the 214270? TIA!
