Tissot T031.410.11.053.00 wrist watches news:
The major men's watch release from Raymond Weil this year was a new Nabucco (the name sounds too much like Nabisco to me and I think of snacks) Va, Pensiero. The odd, "comma containing" name comes apparently from a famous Verdi chorus. Does this watch remind you of anything Verdi or Opera related? Cause it doesn't for me. Get this, Raymond Weil actually writes this in their press information, the Nabucco Va, Pensiero "exudes the same power and nobility as the great Italian composer's Opera." Wow, I've only seen greater BS while staring at a cow's ass.I hope someone who writes for Raymond Weil got a bonus for that gem of a quote. There is nothing wrong with the sand-blasted titanium watch, but lets not get all operatic here. This is no watch to sing about. Though you could buy one and play some Verdi music during a video recorded "un-boxing" session. That would be dramatic enough. The gray tones all over the watch add to the titanium feel, as well as function as Raymond Weil's hat thrown
I bought this WWI Elgin Officer's Trench Watch from 1917 a couple of days ago. The case back has an inscription that peeked my interest so I did several hours of reasearch to find out who he was and what he did, I hit the jackpot! This watch belonged to Lieutanant Philip Mitchell Niederaur of Bryan, Ohio. The Lieutenant did not die in WWI, he lived a very long life and died at the age of 98 in 1991. I was able to find a large portion of his United States Naval Reserve Force records (these are not easy to find, I got very lucky!). I'll post his service record at the bottom of this thread. Now for the watch !This is a 1917 Elgin Trench Watch with a 7 jewel movement, serial number 20377133, grade 417, size 3/0s. The movement was not running when it arrived but I have it purring like a kitten already. This watch has a couple of interesting points. First, the back of the metal dial has a pencil drawn date stamp of 6-17 for June of 1917, (Metal Elgin military dials always had the manufactured
Warning: I'm going to vent a bit here. But if you read my string of bad luck with internet jewelry/watch purchases in the past month, I think you'll grant me a bit of latitude:(1) Mid-December: After much research, bought a set of chocolate diamond and gold earrings for my wife's Christmas present using a "reputable" company based on a very popular retail search engine. Never heard from the company again. Took nearly a month to get my money back from Paypal after their fraud investigation. (2) Mid-December: Bought a beautiful, very old pocketwatch-converted-to-wristwatch from an Ebay seller with all positive feedback. Watch was completely DOA when I got it listing that is was fully functional. Took nearly a month but finally got my refund from the seller.(3) Early January: Sent my wife's gold/ss Yachtmaster in for a full service to a watchmaker with 100% positive feedback and over 700 transactions on Ebay. Got it back yesterday and I swear the guy must have used fine-grit
Hello,I've recently bought an Omega Speedmaster 57' (with the 9300 coaxial movement) and i would like to use the chrono dial as a second time zone.would i harm the watch if i started the chronograph and then set the time 2 hours back (while the chrono is still running) ?Thanks !
This timepiece is definitely a versatile one during travel. Changing time after crossing several time zones is a breeze. The strap lends itself well during hot or cold climate. No doubt a winner in my book. Have a great week ahead! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
