First real watch, advice please...
Hey guys,I have just recently started getting interested in horology and am about to purchase my first real watch.I am currently serving in Afghanistan and when I get a spare moment I have been looking on the web at watches. I currently wear a Gshock due to the nature of my work and that it will take a beating but I want to treat myself to a proper watch for when I return home. At the moment I am considering the omega speedmaster professional 38735031. The more I read the more I want all in house movements and something with a bit of history or legacy behind it. Plus something I can wear on the weekend or when I go out, the zenith al primero is also one I have been looking at. I don't want to spend more then 5-6k, I know that seems a lot for a 27 year old but it's my treat for coming home in one piece. This post is starting to get very lengthy but in wanted to provide some background as well. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated and much needed.Thanks in advance.V.

My Hamilton Square Came Back from Service today so I thought I'd post some pics of some of my favorite vintages:Mid 50's Omega Tank...within 2 seconds a day:40's Era LonginesBelonged to my Great GrandfatherWould love to find NOS hands:1958 Universal Geneve PolerouterA direct competitor of the Rolex Explorer, antimagnetic, very hard to photograph the dial, but I tried:1926 Hamilton Square 10kWGFJust back from servicing, +1 since noon yesterday:1940's Hamilton Military with NOS Hands, Crown, Dial:I have had this 30's Bulova since I was in 7th grade. It came from my grandfather's shop and it was his and then my Dad's. Needs a new crystal, band, and polishing...slowly getting the vintages up to snuff this year:1920's Bulova. I don't know too much about this model, but I know I like it:Thanx for letting me share guys.

14K repeaters
HelloI am a pocket watch enthusiast and i few quite a nice collection. Some for sale too.Anyway, i recently purchased this 14k quarter repeater and it was not cheap. My feeling of first glance said it was a Jules Jurgensen, but now i'm not so sure.Any help or guide to identify the manufacturer of this watch is highly appreciated !!The movement seem to be high grade with wolf teeth, and tried LeCoultre, Patek, Vacheron, Jules Jurgensen, Matile, Ed. Perregaux, Breguet, but no match. The curiosity is the twin bridge near the balance staff. The movement cover reads: Repetition a Quarts, a 5 digit serial no., and several medals. The dial does not say anything.
