ArtyA Son Of Sound: The High-End Guitar Watch
In the last year Swiss art watch brand ArtyA has transformed itself from extremely avant garde "creative" watches to something like this guitar head-shaped Son of Sound collection. The brand was once about just creating totally one-of-a-kind watches that combined the work of an artist and watch maker. The "piece unique" moniker was more a result of that production style versus an effort. For example if you take a steel case and "deface" it (as founder Yvan Arpa liked to say) with electricity and machines by hand, no two cases are going to look alike (i.e. "piece unique"). Thematically, ArtyA watches contained everything from fossilized dinosaur feces to human blood and actual butterfly wings.Meeting with Mr. Arpa is always (always) a treat. But the lack of cohesion in his collection or offer of regular models made ArtyA a very difficult brand to cover. Then the Son of a Gun collection?came around and things sort of started to change. Show Me Your Favorite Citizen
This is my lone Citizen. However, it is one of my favorite watches.August - January is normally the time of year I make at least 4 or 5 new watch purchases. I am using this time to research various watches so that I can be in a position to know what I want when the time comes.Needless to say, Citizen is high on my list.I would be interested in seeing some of the models owned by WTF members to help me get some ideas.The Citizen I currently own is this Eco-Drive Minute Repeater:

I fancy a different kind of Panerai
When Mrs Van D is away, a naughty Ruud will play. I would love one of these on my desk, I mean who wouldn’t? An absolute complete, utter waste of money but, and it’s a huge but with a capital B, they’ve just had a price adjustment. Yep, against the current trend of increases, these babies have dropped by about 40% and they’re down to S$4,300 (¡ê2,350 US$3,170). Alas, Mrs Van D has put the blockers on a purchase. If she comes out to Singapore in four weeks and finds one of these in the house then she’ll pull down my Alan’s and grab my Jacob’s and drag them over my head! The California dial is my favourite (651, I think). So, worth the risk?
