Hamilton Service Center
I just received a call from my Jeweler regarding my Hamilton Lloyd. I wanted to have the case buffed and the watch regulated. While I was there we discussed a movement servicing (at my request) and he gave me a very reasonable estimate.I just received a call with the new figures now that the watch has been looked at by the service center (supposedly the Hamilton service center). The movement service is now quoted at $170 and of course the crystal should be replaced, the dial is showing wear, the case needs work, and a new band is recommended. Frankly, this is highway robbery. I am not that surprised by the movement servicing (or should I be?) - I thought his quote was maybe "too" reasonable, but to try and upsell like this ludicrous! They were recommending over $300 of additional work!This is the first mechanical I have ever had serviced - is this what I get to expect from now on?Does this watch look like a basket case? - B

I really don't see why I need any other watch. As you can see from the desk-diver marks, I pretty much wear it everywhere except in excessive heat, moisture, to bed, in the shower, etc. I say if you can't wear it out with jeans and a t-shirt, it's too gaudy (or whatever negative term you want to assign here) to be on your wrist.Elegant setting, I know!But I finally got around to using my new lens- here's my favorite (and only) watch, photographed by a Pentax K-7 + 100mm f/2.8 WR Macro. Enjoy the eye candy and feel free to ask whatever questions you like. It's posed on my background of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (phenomenal book by the way). don't know if I'm kidding myself, but i think i may be done for a while with this next watch....currently i my collection consists of rolex gmt master 16753, yacht master tt blue dial, hulk, mil gauss gv, speedy pro 3570.5, ploprof 1200 and yesterday i tried on a planet ocean chronometer orange bezel ss bracelet and i love that watch....to me, right now, the poc looks so cool as i love the size of it...and the dssd just looks like a black sub with water retention in comparison.....then to round out the collection i think a marathon and an aqua dive but we'll see......

Swatch v Tiffany
Thought this may be of interest to other Omega fans:BBC TEXT service stating that Swatch and Tiffany are suing each other following the collapse of their production deal.States that in 2007 Swatch agreed to produce watches under the Tiffany brand and that they would share the profits, however, last year Swatch ended the deal accusing Tiffany of blocking the development of buisiness. Sit down before reading the sums of money involved........Swatch is suing for ¡ê2.6bn. Tiffany has launched a counter claim.That's a lot of Planet Oceans!
