Another Restoration Project is Complete!
Just got back from my watchmaker, and am THRILLED with how this latest project turned out. Here's the "before" photo of the 1972 "Double Red" Sea-Dweller I picked up a couple of weeks ago:Here's the "after":The movement was was strong, and needed no work - just did a clean, oil and adjustment. The bracelet that was on the watch previously was for a more modern Sea-Dweller, and it had the incorrect end links on it. So I replaced it with a correct 93150 with 585 end links. Both the crystal and crown (and tube) were replaced with factory parts. Instead of replacing the bezel insert as I've done with some previous 1680 Subs I've restored, I kept this wonderfully faded bezel and chased down a tritium bezel pearl to put in it (you'll see it's missing in the first photo). A light polish was also done to the case.It took about a week longer than I anticipated getting this project done as it was quite a challenge finding those end links and the tritium "dots." Greetings Everyone....What a great forum! Sure I will be learning a lot! Just bought myself my 1st new watch in 15 years! I lost my other watch, ( a cheap one ) long time ago and have been using my cell phone as a watch!!!Just bought a Citizen Eco Drive 8700. Just had it one day, so far so good! I set it with the U.S. Atomic Clock on line. Was more watch then what I really set out to get! The sales person in the Jewelry Store was wearing one, and showed it to me, sold me on it!! Been learning the in's and outs of this watch and it is a lot of fun! Too early for a real review, but just a couple of things I have noticed.1. Bracelet - Rather small wrist - adjusted at the store, just a bit on tight side, add one more linktoo lose!2. Alarm Function: I tried it. Volume so low!!! Really not worth much.3. Setting in two time zones: Like it..Nice feature.4. Eco Drive - Great idea! Never buy another battery!5. Perpetual Time - Nice! Good until Feb 2100!!!

Greetings.I'm an aspiring writer working on a crime novel. I had the idea of making one of the clues having to do with demagnetized/magnetized watches, causing them to gain or lose time. My Patek Philippe Journey
When I developed an interest in watches in 1985, it was clear Patek Philippe was considered the finest of the mass-production watch manufacturers. Naturally I aspired to own one some day, but began my hobby primarily collecting old Hamilton wristwatches.In October 1993, I had a windfall, winning $5,000 in a contest held by my employer. I asked my watchmaker if he knew of any Patek Philippe wristwatches for sale, and he put me in touch with someone I had previously met. Knowing his love for a Waterman filigree fountain pen I owned, I brought the seller the pen and cash. This was my first Patek, a 35mm Calatrava reference 2508 from 1955.I owned the watch for 20 years, until I finally was able to admit it no longer interested me. It was traded toward another Patek below.My next Pateks came as a pair. An acquaintance had a a reference 2591 on a gold bracelet listed for sale. I had many sport watches to trade (Omega/vintage Le Coultre/IWC chronographs) and he liked to trade. We arranged to
