One year ago today, the world of horology lost its greatest designer - Gerald Genta.? Responsible for more iconic designs than any other man in the history of timepieces, his trademark aesthetics are ingrained in countless watches we see, and speak of every single day.In an incredibly detailed and revealing interview just published via Greek watch blog VeryImportantWatches, Mr. Genta opens up about his earliest days - when he was getting paid 15 CHF to sell designs to American brands and Swiss suppliers - to how he designed the Royal Oak in a single night.? He mentions many of his less well-known work, like that of his Cellini for Rolex, a limited edition Seiko, oh, and a digital watch for Timex that was made in a very limited run of just 30,000,000 watches.? The article is not available online, so you must download a PDF.? This is an article you need to read if you have an interest in 20th century watches, design, or Genta himself.? I was in a jewelry store in McAllen, TX of all places and they had pieces from Zenith, Omega, Ball, Bell & Ross, Hamilton, Mont Blanc, Tag Heuer and a couple of others. I tried on several pieces and had a great time. What really surprised me was that I was fully prepared to dislike the Bell & Ross models but I ended up really liking them. I even like the square models especially the 42mm BR 03-92. I am a little concerned about the PVD wearing off, but I was amazed how much I like the look of it on my wrist. I might be more interested in the large date power reserve model, but I like the simplicity of this one.
Hey everyone, So I recently bought a white rubber strap for my AP 44mm novelty. I also bought a AP bands changing tool, and I was able to easily remove and reattach the straps. Where I ran into problems was with removing the buckle. Anyone has any advice on this?I followed these instructions:.watchprosite/?page=wf...803&pi=6846988But was not able to remove the buckle no matter how hard I pushed it
....recently become an Omega owner after a few years (25!) with only Rolex and Tudor.......happy so far....sorry for the poor quality snap
