I don't get it
I just put on a $20,000.00 gold presidential Rolex at the jewlers today. I'm not seeing the bang for your buck in that watch. I'm a Hamilton fan so maybe that says it all.

Advice on dial repair
My minute repeater is currently at Patek Philippe. In a few weeks they'll tell me how much it will cost to get it working. The movement needs a complete cleaning, something I definitely want done. I can't wait to hear the chimes for the first time. Another problem is a scratch on the dial. My photos aren't great, but the scratch is fairly obvious. It starts at the "3" and crosses down to the subdial. Unlike hairline cracks the scratch is much wider. I'd like some opinions on dial repair of this type done by Patek. Since the watch is an antique, the repairs will be done in Geneva. I never intend to sell it, but I'll bequeath it to an heir. Personally, I'd like to see the dial repaired. However, I don't want to do something that could adversely affect the value of the watch. The other photo shows an engraving of "1886" on the back case. help needed to identify my longines
can anyone help me identify what model my longines is .it is solid gold and has the number 16882552 or could be 18882552 on back of case .the only close model i have come across is a serge manzon model 5002 made in circa1974 but the watch face isnt the same nor have i come a similiar face on internet

True daily wearer?
Is there such a thing as a PP daily wearer that I don't have to worry about?My Rolex GMT II has been fulfilling that role for the last few years. It's wish stood salt water, sand beaches, wearing it in the shower, forgetting to take it off at night, etc. I just fancy something a bit more special on my wrist and clearly my 5146G wouldn't last 5 minutes under that kind of abuse!
