Vacheron Constantin Vacheron Constantin 44351 wrist watches news:
Watchmakers have always tried to battle the effects of gravity on a timepiece’s balance assembly. The well-known tourbillon has, to date, been the de facto solution to this problem and we’ve seen multi-axis tourbillons, flying tourbillons, and double tourbillons. At SIHH this week, Roger Dubuis, the avant garde Geneva watch brand, has introduced an effective alternative to the tourbillon, and it’s a world first – a watch movement with four sprung balances.Called the Quatuor and introduced in the company’s Excalibur case, the movement’s balances are paired, two and two, and positioned at 90 degree angles to one another, linked by differentials. Each balance operates at 4 Hz, adding up to 16 oscillations per second. By distributing the effects of gravity across the four balances, these effects are negated, thus resulting in a more consistent timekeeping rate. All the technical detail aside, the movement is quite stunning to behold and the sound of four
I'm still in Poughkeepsie, but I've been in Manhattan for a few days. I thought I would say a few things about my impressions and show you the watch I bought.I would say that NYC is the friendliest city I've ever been in. It is the opposite of what many have said in the past. The city has certainly changed over the years. It used to be a vast porn, dope and violence sewer surrounded by some indigenous con artists and fruity performance art-ists on Broadway. Not now.I have heard more 'thank you-s' and 'have a good evening' and 'come back again' in the last three days then I have heard in three years in Seattle. The people here have manners and a great business sense. People greet you in elevators and bid you a good morning - something impossible in Seattle. The Pacific Northwest is a vast ice tundra compared to this. I thank and salute the people of New York for their kindness and class. Also, the food is so good it is worth going there for that alone. Hats off to Katz Deli for
Today I am working on a 1917 Elgin General "Blackjack" Pershing Offset Trench Watch. Just finished cleaning the hands and then applied white enamel paint to the hour, minute and sub second hand. Setting the hour and minute hands on a toothpick works very well, your free hand holds the toothpick steady while applying the white enamel. As for the sub-second hand, use a worthless drop movement and install the sub hand then apply the white enamel. Start in and work your way out with one fluid stroke. You want a nice thin layer, if you apply too thick the hands might rub together when installed on the watch face! The white enamel that I use takes about 24 hours to fully dry so this project will go no further until tomorrow afternoon. During that time I will spend time polishing the offset crown trench watch case and timing out a few other movements. So, I know that a lot of you guys work on your own watches what did you work on today? Post some pictures!
This a long overdue report that I have promised back in June before my dream visit to AP in Switzerland! It was a 2-day visit in Le Brassus, but there was some time to spend in Geneva before and after the trip to Vallee de Joux. I also took the opportunity to tour other parts of Switzerland. Tons of photos were taken in this 14-day trip, the best are selected here for a photo essay to record this memorable experience. Some of you might have seen some real-time photos I've posted in IG (orangedial17), but there are many more I want to share here and thus the report will come in a few instalments :) I would like to sincerely thank AP Singapore, in particular the management and boutique, for their kind invite and utmost hospitality for hosting this unforgettable visit to the AP HQ, museum and factory facilities in Le Brassus. Not only have I gained more in-depth knowledge about the history, technology, passion, direction, and many interesting details behind the scene, my respects for the
