Luminous watch face question - just wondering
While my Submariner is in for service, I'm stuck wearing an old Casio divers watch I purchased 24 years ago. After adding a new battery it still works great. It too, by the way, has been a great watch. Purchased right after high school graduation, worn thru 4 years in the military and beyond. Anyway...I notice that even after 24 years the face glows significantly brighter than my Submariner does. After about 12 years +/- the Sub started loosing some of it's brightness. Normal from what I've read. My questions is why does a cheap-o $30 Casio still glow so bright after 24 years and the Rolex started to peter out after about half that time?Would the fact that the Casio was in a dark jewlery box for most of the last 17 years be the reason? Is it time or "mileage" (the actual amount of time the luminescent material is actually glowing that effects this??Just curious...I understand different watch makers use different substances for this purpose, but how could Casio afford to use a s

Rolex Explorer II
Any word out of Rolex headquarters when they may update the Explorer II? I know the new 39mm Explorer is out. I will be interested if they incorporate the ceramic bezel and larger lug in the Explorer II as they did for GMT II.Any thoughts?

Taking These to Alameda This Weekend
Gentlemen, as you may or may not know, I spent the last 6 months gathering some new vintage watches, and having my watches from lasat season serviced by my great and fabulous watch guy Jerry , in Michigam ...........Now it is time...the first antique show of the season is this coming Sunday, the one at ALameda point, on an old naval air force base, on an old runway, right beside the water.............So, I thought I'd post the watches I am taking and see what if any ideas or comments or thoughts you might have .......so first up, the cream de la cream of the wrist watches........in no particular orderThe BulovasOther leather banded watches:Some of the pocket watches, newish, pretty old, and a running dollar watchand 4 solid gold ones, they are all 14k, except for the biggest one which is from Scotland and is 9kThat's most of the best, but there are others I shall post in another post don't want to crowd any one post .....( but will stay in this thread......)
