My AD has a slightly used Explorer II (Z serial no.) He sold the watch new, and the customer traded it on another watch a few months later. The Explorer II has been to Dallas for a tune-up and carries the full one-year service warranty. Is $4000 a reasonable price?Thanks in advance, Wink

Mineral Crystal: Why?
I made the mistake of buying a Seiko with mineral crystal once (gorgeous watch, cruddy crystal ). And only once: It scratched within a week of purchase :mad:. It swore me off mineral crystal no matter what; now I only buy watches with sapphire.After my lesson, I wonder if I can bring myself to buy a watch without sapphire crystal. Of course, if there's a nice deal on a reputable brand (Seiko, Citizen) for under $150 or so, I'd probably consider it. However, I don't think I'd ever pay more than $200 for a watch without sapphire crystal. By the way, all my subsequent watches have sapphire, and only one cost over $300. All Tissots, many Swiss Army, and a number of Seikos (for example) have sapphire crystal for under $300. My second point: Is sapphire much more expensive than mineral crystal (for the companies)? Panerai Radiomir 42mm
I had the Panerai Radiomir base (45mm) for about a year and have loved its simplicity and casework. On a recent trip to Chicago, I made the mistake of trying on the new in-house movement 42mm Radiomir released in 2010. On my 7 inch wrist, the watch just fits nicer. The smaller case retains its curvy Italian beauty without the "Look at me" 45mm case. I was smitten.I was able to sell my former love 210 to obtain a 337 from the Panerai boutique in NYC (with some added funds on my end). Two days later it is comfortably in my box. Here are some pics and early thoughts.The P.999/1 is a slim hand cranker, allowing for a lower profile case than in the 210. This makes the watch a bit dressier. The burgundy leather strap with white stitches however keeps it sporty. The small seconds indicator at 9 o'clock makes it clear the watch is still alive (I always have a small bit of anxiety when checking the time on a watch without a moving second hand).
