Zenith 03.0516.680/21.C648 wrist watches news:
Hello from a new member. I picked up an unusual (to me anyway) Hamilton watch this morning at a tag sale. The attached picture says it all. I have been able to identify the watch as a c1931 Webster with a Wadsworth white gold filled case (thanks to your fabulous site). The movement is a 17 jewel 987-F with serial number 4276282. Did Hamilton make custom watches or did individuals have them made privately? I haven't been able to identify who Elmer Hogan was and I don't think he was so famous that there are thousands of these watches around. Are there many examples of watches with personalized dials?
I have decided to buy a pre-owned Citizen "Eco-Zilla" (I don't have it yet). The owner states that the back of the case has the following information:GN-4-S! Diver's Watch 300m for mixed gas diving Antimag 4800 Mov't 5N0157After visiting the Citizen website, I couldn't locate any of the above specific alpha-numeric identifiers; this is the confusing issue. The frontal pic of the watch supplied by the owner shows it on a black rubber strap and TITANIUM is absent from the case (meaning it's the SS model).I hope someone can definitely tell me why the ID chars. don't match. TIA.
Recently I previewed a very beautiful Ref 3448 in white gold from 1975. A true grail watch that hides a lot of complexity beneath a very clean and simple dial and case. It was quite magical on the wrist. But it got me thinking again about Ref. 5320. Ref. 3448 has no leap year indicator but is in a 38.5 mm case. Ref. 3445 is different to Ref. 3448 as it has a leap year indicator but therefore makes the dial offcentered. The 5320 has a leap year indicator and on top of that has a day/night indicator (which although rather useless, gives the dial nice symmetry). I think in the larger case of the Ref. 5320, the leap year and day/night look good and balanced. The watch is interesting as it combines a sporty look with luminescent markers and hands, but at the same time is a very classical complication with clear vintage lineage. I look forward to seeing some incomings here in the future.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Who here has tattoos to go along with their watches?
The only think linking this new model to the old is the brown portion of the bezel. The original Root Beer had a light brown dial and either all brown, or brown and yellow bezel. Not a black dial and black and brown bezel. I¡¯m calling this the espresso....even if nobody else does
