Swedish manufacturer Halda Watch Co. has announced that ESA astronaut Christer Fuglesang will wear a new watch called the Halda Space Discovery during a trip aboard the shuttle Discovery, currently scheduled to launch on August 28. The watch was developed with Fuglesang to meet an astronaut’s requirements, and the trip into space is part of the development process. The watch – to be produced in a limited edition of 128 pieces – will go on sale in December. The Halda Space Discovery consists of a “time platform” with two replaceable time modules: an advanced electronic module, and a module with a high beat mechanical movement modernized by renowned watchmaker Svend Andersen. So here is the deal I have recently been looking into the Royal Oak Offshore collection specifically the volcano and safari theme. One of the trusted sellers who I have worked with in the past has a used G serial Volcano on the forum in the 14ish range. I was contemplating trading my subc a little over a year old and my Polar explorer 2 42mm towards it. Doing the math I would probably have to kick in around 2kish dollars (plus or minus a little). Was wondering what you guys on the AP forum would do. Trade 2 for 1? The Volcano would be my only watch so i would probably have to purchase a G-shock or something for when I'm working and the Volcano would be the home/weekend watch.thanks for any advice and I appreciate it
To Co-Axial or not to Co-axial?..... that is the question.... And if so, which one?
Like what I did there?.... So here's my watch. Originally my father's which he purchased in about 1981 after securing a big shipping contract in the Middle East, where I grew up. Thought it was lost for the last 17 years as Dad had Alzheimers, but it turned up in a box of junk (her words) that my Stepmum gave me after he passed away last year. The President 18c bracelet was broken and worn, the glass chipped, the crown missing, and was in a state of severe disrepair. I bit the bullet and spent $NZ5k having the centrepiece repaired by Rolex and it is now under warranty and in as newcondition. I had to change the dial as the old one (gold) had radium and had to be removed according to Australian law. Went for the metallic blue dial and brown leather strap for a sort of classic/ modern look. I'll get the gold bracelet repaired in good time, but for now I'm pretty pleased with the result. Great to give this watch a new lease of life and in a way I feel closer to Dad as it was his most pre
