A Look At Two Recently Introduced IWC Ingenieur Watches
While its focus was squarely on its Aquatimer divers’ watches at the 2014 SIHH, IWC has circled back to last year’s featured watch line, the Ingenieur, with two new IWC Ingenieur watches that it is launching this summer, both bearing the Ingenieur collection’s revamped design codes, influenced by materials and functions used in Formula One racing.The IWC Ingenieur Dual Time (Ref. IW324402/IW324404) is one of the more understated Ingenieur watches, with a stainless steel case measuring “only” 43 mm in diameter. Swatch - the watch not the group....
I mentioned this in a post a long while back, but I don't think I posted any pics. A workmate was given a Swatch by a friend from Switzerland when he visited NZ. He wore it a lot, and it became very dirty and the crystal scratched.I offered to clean it up for him, and I think he was surprised I managed to polish out the worst scratches & dings, as well as polish the bracelet (which is a horrible 'Speidel' type hair-grabber).What's unusual about this Swatch (to me, at least) is that it is an auto rather than the usual quartz, and it has a display caseback. Not sure how common these types were. The words 'Swatch' and 'Swiss' are etched(?) on the crystal as well, unless they're printed on the underside of the crystal.Anyway, I borrowed it this weekend to grab some pics, and here they are:

Visited the Omega boutique today
My regular AD (where I purchase my watches) recently stopped selling Omega and I saw that a new Omega boutique opened recently near it.Today I went in and I was like a kid in a candy store, I WANTED EVERYTHING! It's nice to see pretty much all the models in the same place, on the flip side they only give 5% discounts or so they say.Right across the street there's a jewelry shop that is an Omega AD and trying to get the guy to offer a bigger discount I asked him if he didn't loose to many sales to the other store since they offered much better discounts. He told me that was the reason my regular AD is not selling Omega anymore and that the store across the street is not receiving any new product and is just selling what they have left. My take on how Rolex fixed their "grey market" problem
For a long while now I've read countless threads on this forum about how Rolex wanted to curb grey market watch buying. In my opinion the underlying issue for Rolex and Rolex AD's was that people would window shop their AD and then go to a good old trusted seller and get the watch for less than MSRP and brag about it on this forum. I'd seen lots of responses a year ago and back where a lot of forum members would encourage going to an AD to see a watch in the flesh then say order it from X trusted seller here. This in my opinion was the real issue rolex has with the grey market in general, it diminished their brand by allowing it to sell at a discount... think of the grey seller as an outlet store of sorts. Fast forward to present times. The current thread trends on buying are exactly the opposite. Now paying full MSRP is considered the deal to be had, and the grey market is insane to most.
