Another heirloom Patek
My uncle has just given me this watch as a gift; it belonged to my great-grandfather, who wore it for about 8 years before he died, and then was stored away by my grandfather (my uncle's father) for 20 years before he died (and then for at least 25 years by my uncle, till now). AFAIK it hasn't been serviced for at least 50 years. After my grandfather died, my grandmother gave this watch to my uncle, and my grandfather's late-50s ref. 2484 Patek Philippe to me. Since that time I had always thought these had been purchased at the same time and were identical, except for the engraving, but I was shocked to discover my error (I obviously wasn't a vintage watch collector the only time I saw these together, in the mid-80s). An interesting thing about this one is that, despite the appearance of the spring bars, they appear to be fixed, so it needs an open-end strap. Well¡­ That was quick.
I¡¯ve had my Seamaster on my wrist for less than 48 hours and I¡¯ve scratched the clasp! I fully understand that it¡¯s going to happen eventually, but I¡¯ve kind of made this one worse. The scratch didn¡¯t amount to anything, and I grabbed my trust Bergeron ¡°Satin Bar¡± as I¡¯ve done on countless other watches to simply erase the evidence. Unfortunately, the Fine grade bar that I have is still a tiny bit too coarse to match the Omega finish. I made it worse. It¡¯s still not noticeable to anyone but me, but my OCD is in overdrive at the moment. Does anyone know what grit emory paper matches the Omega brushed finish on the Seamaster clasp?

Patek 5167a Strap Change
Hi fellow Aquanaut owners,Do you all go to an AD every time you want to change (not resize) the rubber strap or do you do it yourself? If you DIY what specific tool do you use or recommend? As you know, the rubber straps have these two prongs at the end where it connect to the watch case and it seems difficult to remove unless I used a specific plier or tool.I once took it to an AD and they had difficulty removing the strap without a dedicated tool and even slipped and marked the back of the lugs while doing so!

Back with a PAM 423
I have owned a PAM 90, a 140, and I just completed a PAM 423 purchase with Sean Landsnaes. Love the dial power reserve and the gold hands. Good to be back. Much larger than my Omega Speedmaster Date, but I like it and the new movement.
