I have a new twist in the search for my Eleanor. (it's a Gone in 60 Seconds reference) I've been trying to add an 18K Constellation pie pan from the late 50's or early 60's to my collection. I have most of my bases covered in that era:a gold capped Seamaster De Villea 14K gold Seamaster De Ville on a 9 row Beads of Rice braceleta gold capped Constellation on a 7 row TT Beads of Rice braceletan 18K Seamaster *incoming!!!I also have a gold capped Connie day/date I posted as a recent aquisition, I traded my redialed late 40's bumper, and have passed up a couple deals on 18K Connies because I want to add one with a Milanese 18K bracelet. Well, one has been on my radar recently at a small shop not to far from the apartment. Hi I can see that this is the most common question on the forum and I apologise in advance but is this an authentic Longines?Longines male watch back of watch is markedserial number 35810163 and the case is marked ¡®FLAGSHIP, L4.774.4, REGISTR.MOD, ALL STAINLESS STEEL, SWISS MADE¡¯I have emailed Longines (Swatch) customer service but haven't had a reply yet.Can anyone help by casting an experienced eye over it please?Thanks

Jewels act like the roller bearings or bushings of a watch's internals which are used to combat friction. Friction not only reduces the lifespan of the parts rubbing against each other, it affects accuracy as well. Since jewels were intended to be used on high wear points it made sense that the harder & smoother the material that they are made of, the better the reduction of friction. In 1704 the Swiss astronomer and optician Nicolas Fatio de Duillier patented a way of drilling rubies so they could be used in watch movements. Two tone ceramic bluesy thoughts
After having this piece for a few years, it just doesn¡¯t do it for me. I hardly ever wear it, but when I do,it¡¯s too much bling. I¡¯m thinking of trading it for a pre ceramic sub or Kermit once the USA housing market again collapses. I also find it hard to read because of all the colors. I¡¯ve tried to like this watch because my wife even loves it. The AD loves it too and offered to buy it back less ten percent, which isn¡¯t so bad. My question is for sub wearers.... is the black legible. Do you guys like pre ceramic or ceramic. Then there¡¯s the bracelet to consider. The slid8ng clasp is a very nice option and I love it, BUT I never really have to use it. Not even on my deep blue. So, really it¡¯s not that important to me, despite being impressive. Have you guys ditched the two tone blue sub, and if so, for what? I think the standard sub would be my preference or even an explorer 2 for its gmt function. Tips for avoiding unnecessary scratches?
I'm excited to start wearing my DJ41 daily soon!Before I do, I'd like to hear about some tips to help avoid unnecessary scratching. Particularly with desk diving, what can I do to keep the clasp from scratching excessively on my MacBook Pro? Like a rubber grip? Or something that also doubles as an ergonomic cushion for your wrists?Now, before you scathe me for trying to keep the watch looking new, I don't plan on babying my watch. It WILL be used daily. But at the same time, I don't want to abuse it unnecessarily.I think of it similar to how I like making sure my dress shoes look their best (shoe trees, conditioning, polish, etc.). Ex: I avoid unnecessary puddles, but I'll still wear them if there's some rain. This way I walk tall, they look great AND they are kept healthy.What's the equivalent I should do for my new watch?
