When we found out a few weeks ago that Defakto had released a new watch, we got very excited. They are one of the few brands out there right now that truly follows the beat of their own drum. ?Their first watch was an ETA 2824-2 powered automatic one-hander called the Eins, which we reviewed a variation of?here. ?Their second watch was also an automatic, but a 2-hander, called the Akkord. Aesthetically, the watches are bold, but restrained, with large high contrast markers and hands, yet the good sense to hold back ever so slightly and focus on proportions. They speak both to contemporary graphic design and classical schools of design. The outcome was two very distinct watches, available in several versions that go for about $500 – $600. For their third watch, Defakto went back to the one hand concept, stayed true the graphic roots of the brand, but did everything differently, creating a very unique and interesting watch.The Detail brings a few things to the Defakto line up. The reason why I find annual calendars practical...Perpetual calendars are considered superior to annual calendars due to the 'set it and leave it' feature.It is interesting, because the new annual calendars have MORE parts - yet are on average $20,000 lessexpensiveness than perpetual calendars. Sometimes I wonder if Patek charges this huge premium really for the 'traditional watchmaking' that is allegedly that much more difficult with making and adjusting of perpetual calendars or if they charge this premium for the 'exclusivity and perpetual feature'. Whatever the reason is - to me - it is not worth the huge premium.Consider this: - took a picture with a tooth-pick - took out the manuals for 5960 and 5135 to double check which correction button is for what(did not do it for a full year so I forgot and just wanted to make sure)- took another picture, uploaded to photobucket, posted here. - not to mention that between two watches I saved enough to buy a car and another Patek ;)While

How Robust Are Automatic Movements?
I don't know why this has been bugging me, but I have to ask.If someone is a rock drummer, and they wear a watch with an automatic movement, can that movement be damaged by simply wearing it while playing? I'm not talking about a drummer playing Eagles songs, but a drummer playing, say hard rock. Think Jon Bonham/Keith Moon type playing.I shot the Goo Goo Dolls show here in St. Augustine last night, and the drummer removed his watch before they took the stage. I used to take mine off simply because I didn't like the feel of it on my wrist when I played, but now I'm wondering if there's a chance of damaging the movement the watch is worn while playing.These are the kinds of things I think of after only two cups of coffee...

Longines Master Collection Moon Phase watch Question
Does anyone own one of these watches? Could you give me a more detail information of all the functions of this watch.I went to the Longines website and it tells a little about the watch but not much. Would like to know if besides the 30 minute counter, does it have the hour counter for the chronograph function? Also, I see they mention 24 hour, does it have a second time zone function?TIA
