The more time I spend in watches, the less interested I become in what the industry calls "halo" pieces. You know, those mega-comps that cost as much as a home in downtown New York, that you hear about exactly twice – when announced at Basel or SIHH, and when they sell at auction for a fraction of their original retail price. I'm generally quick to answer when people ask me to name my favorite modern watch brands; without hesitation, the list includes F.P.Journe. This is not to say that I'm a fan of everything the brand produces, but I admire the way the manufacture applies a certainly polarizing and idiosyncratic design language consistently to every model in its range, from the most exclusive models to its entry-level pieces.More than one collector I have met has described F.P.Journe watches as "poetic" in both design and engineering, including a particularly memorable collector who, over glasses of rosé in the courtyard of the 14th-century Swiss château he of course redesigned himself, waxed lyrically about the peerless way the brand balances "technology and poetry" in its designs. A watch brand that will go unmentioned proudly boasts on the case back "Hand Made & Assembled"Is that somewhat redundant or am I to believe that each individual component is "hand made" and then "hand assembled" .On the dial at 6 o'clock it says Swiss Movt -6- Hand MadeWhat's that mean??Is it a Swiss "made by hand" movement?I wish this stuff didn't come to my attention-but it does.:D:eek:

Hi All, Does anybody have any information about a Breitling Callisto. I am knew to the luxury watch world (and extremely knew to the world of breitling). What years does this model span from and any idea what they would have been brand new?any info would be appreciatedthanks

Daytona's minute hand (chrono), does it jitter sometimes?
Is it is normal for the minute hand on the Daytona's chronograph to jitter sometimes, while moving when a minute is about to pass instead of moving swiftly? I tried taking a video, but it cannot capture it. With the naked eye you can see the movement is not necessarily smooth. Sometimes it moves swiftly and sometimes it jitters a bit before moving to indicate a minute is over. I understand it won't do it in one swift move. But it seemed though the hand jitters(to and fro motion) before it moves!Any comments?
