What would you all consider the closest present day equivalent to the model 1016 Explorer? What models existed in between? (and dates of production, if you know)?Vintage Rolex Sports Models does a nice job of laying out a chronology through the late 1980s. But I'd be interested in what's happened more recently w/ that Explorer I lineage, through 2008.Well, except for the price increases part! Thanks!

Yesterday I had to travel to Sydney, so I took the opportunity to drop in my Heuer Autavia and Longines Dolce Vita in for a service and to call in to a few ADs for some serious drooling! The first one I visited was Watches Of Switzerland. The first watch I had a look at there was an IWC Pilot's Chronograph (reference IW371701). It was a great watch, I had liked the pictures of it and it was just as nice on. A nice size, felt good and looked fabulous. I asked the sales assistant about the movement, whether it was based on a Valjoux 7750 and she had no idea what I was even talking about. Just mumbled and looked confused, couldn't even say that she didn't know but would find out. But then a "real" sales person swooped in to answer and stuck with me for the rest of my visit. While I was drooling over the IWCs I also tried on 2 Portuguese. The chrono (reference IW371438) and the automatic with power reserve (reference IW500101). These were both beautiful watches and felt fabulous on. I love b
Housed in a secure 45-mm high-pressure-grade stainless steel case, constructed of 316L surgical-grade steel, sits the Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement with 25 jewels, providing the accuracy Switzerland is known for, protected with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass treated in an anti-reflective coating.Pressure management is automatically provided by an Integrated Helium Release Valve (HRV), located on the left side of the case, while the case is sealed tight with a screw-down crown and an engraved artistic case-back and secured to the wrist with a 5-link steel bracelet, fastened with solid end-pieces, steel screws and a clasp with diving extension.Beneath the clear sapphire glass lays a deep-black dial enriched with a wavy textured pattern offsetting the orange and white markings on the dial, hands and bezel applied in Super-Luminova phosphorus illuminating paint, and providing an appealing contrast for the metal skeleton hands gently gliding over the dial. Guys,I have a JLC True Second in pink gold, lovely watch, but looking for more of an everyday piece! The 15400 has always been a grail for me, even though there are more expensive watches! So, the question, sell the JLC to fund a 15400? I think I know what you guys will say, but wanted to hear your opinions! Thanks!Jeffrey
