This year marks the 40th anniversary of the world¡¯s first LED digital watch, made by Hamilton. The American brand is celebrating the invention of the technology that revolutionized the watch industry with the new Hamilton Pulsomatic, a digital timepiece with Swiss craftsmanship in the form of an automatic movement. The original Pulsar was named after the astronomical bodies that emit precise radio pulses. Hamilton’s new Pulsomatic has a similar look, though with LCD and not LED display, and the design still looks futuristic. The “omatic” part of the new name represents what may be the new model’s most interesting feature: it is powered by an innovative Swiss automatic movement, the H1970. Fully charged, the watch offers a 120 day power reserve.The Pulsomatic also offers a sapphire crystal, a display back for viewing the unique engine (shown below), and 50 meter water resistance. Available on a rubber strap or a steel bracelet, both versions are priced at $1545.

Your Name on Paperwork?
I'm planning on picking up my first Patek soon and am wondering if it matters that much if your name isn't on the paperwork when you buy. Do you mind buying used if all papers are there and watch is in mint condition? I'm trying to figure out if I want to go New (from AD) with my name on the papers, New from a grey dealer, or purchase it used. I realize options 2 or 3 I'd be saving a significant amount of money as the pieces I'm looking at aren't typically discounted much. Looking for advice or first hand story on which route you went. This will be my first Patek and I'll be purchasing to commemorate a professional life event. I'm ~30 and work in a traditional corporate setting. I'd be rotating it with a BLNR (which I can't trade as it was a wedding gift from the wife) Will be getting an Aquanaut (5167 or 5167r) or Nautilus (5711 or 5712)...I have not decided yet. Have you ever used an auction house like antiquorum or christies to sell a watch? I am contemplating selling a Patek 5350 using an auction house. I have not aggressively shopped it but it is not an easy piece to move. I would appreciate pointers or lessons learned.
