Hi. I am very interested in this forum after reading about the quality and different type of watches out there. I might want to get automatic watch for my husband since he has broke like 3 or 4 of the quartz watches already. In the meantime, I would like to ask for some advices regarding which brand of watches will give you the status without the cost of an arm and a leg. I'm helping my sis-in-law who is in Asia seeking for a luxury watch to be somewhat up there with her high end customers/friends. She fell in love with the picture of the Movado rondiro diamond watch going for $1995 but that is well over her budget. Her wrists are small and the budget is $1K. Can she get similar brand name watch for that amount of money with diamond on it and the style doesn't wear out? I told her to get the coach studio round signature etched bangle watch since it looks very nice on any occasion and it's under $400K with the movement made by Movado. I had some minor work done on my Rolex at a AD recently. One day when I picked up the Rolex I asked if the repair guy (watchmaker A) could fix the chrono function on my Omega Seamaster Olympics edition watch, which did nothing when I pushed the pushers. I gave it to him for a few minutes, he came back and said that he needed to send it out, as he wasn't familiar with the movement on that watch, and furthermore would have to send it out to Omega. He had it open for about five minutes, and the chrono still didn't work. I then took the watch to a trusted contact (watchmaker B), he looked at it for one minute and then asked if someone had recently worked on it. He indicated that someone had turned an adjustment screw all the way open, which had further complicated the problem. He fixed it in about two minutes applying the appropriate adjustments without changing any parts.Watchmaker B is certain that watchmaker A knew exactly what he was doing, as the movement is a very common chrono movem
