Breguet 5140BA/12/9W6 wrist watches news:
Yesterday Sotheby's New York held its Important Watches and Clocks sale at their Upper East Side headquarters. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the record-setting sale of the Duc D'Orl¨¦ans Breguet Sympathique clock from 1835, a stunning clock with a docking pocket watch - yes, a docking pocket watch.Just looking at the Duc D'Orl¨¦ans, you can tell you're staring at something impressive. The case is decorated with beautiful ormolu-mounted red tortoise shell, it stands at nearly two feet tall, and the amount of gold sculpture is staggering. But it's the little repeating watch perched on top that really makes the Duc D'Orl¨¦ans special.?Abraham-Louis Breguet wanted to tackle the problem of watch winding, and this is one of his finest achievements in the arena. While in exile in Switzerland during the French Revolution, Breguet conceived of the Sympathique system. At the bottom of the pocket watch are three tiny holes. When docked in the gold cradle atop the parent clock, these holes

I posted this over in the Invicta Forum, but wanted to post it here, as well, to give one of our sponsors a little more love from some folks (those Hamilton types!) who might not otherwise see it!Recently, I found a Times Square Automatic on eBay:I really liked the watch; nice and hefty. But, I really wasn't blown away by the simple black strap. It just seemed like it was there to keep the watch in place, as opposed to being "part of the package":So, before I left on my trip to Atlantic Canada, I ordered a brown croc strap with a butterfly deployment. It was waiting for me when I got back from my trip on Saturday night. I just knew that a nicer strap would make this watch something special.I think I may have succeeded:Thanks to The Watch Prince for the superb strap and clasp! I really like the way this watch looks now. I can't imagine making a better choice than the brown croc strap and, frankly, I think I'm developing an unhealthy addiction to deployment clasps.Anyway, I think the new
Ended up with this one sort of by accident, but I'm starting to dig it.It came with an ill-fitting bund-style strap that I didn't like at all, so I left it on top of the gas pump on the way home yesterday Here it is with a strap I just made:40mm bead-blasted case20mm strapETA 2824After wearing the Megalodon pretty much exclusively for the last couple of months, this feels like there's nothing on my wrist!
With all the black ceramic diver incomings and the fact it's being discontinued it seems to get harder to find, on chrono24 there are just 3 on sale, 1 in the US, 1 in Hong Kong and 1 but used in Denmark, there are more white ones though but I would not get a white one, except if having a large collection and wanting to add a fun watch for weekends and holidays.I could be wrong but I have a feeling the black ceramic diver is going to become a highly collectable piece, like the 15300 and other pieces, I mean it seems to have been made at less than 600 pieces, mine is around 550 and I just got it, so the final number should be around 600 which is very limited and much more limited than some limited editions.Plus the fact that it' a really cool watch seems to me all the makings for a very collectable piece, with the 44mm ceramic ROO's it's definitely the coolest ceramic piece around, all the other ceramic watches I've seen, Pam 335, Omega DSOTM and a few others are no where near as cool a
