Breitling A1338012/B861 wrist watches news:
I just got a Hamilton Platinum ladies watch with a 911 movement. The movement does not work. I was wondering if it is better to try to find a working movement and scrap the current movement or if it is more worthwhile to have the present movement repaired. Does anyone have an inexpensive and working 911 movement. Thanks.
Good day to all Glycine enthusiasts. Thank you to John who took me by the hand and showed me how to post pictures here. I have just bought a 70's (that's my guess) era chrono that looks a great deal like the Heuer GMT chronos (of the same era) with the Valjoux 72 movement. A similar chrono was also made by Belair and Duval, and, in fact, the one that I bought looks exactly like the Belair, i.e. same hands with rounded tips and black and red GMT hand. Before I bought the watch I made 2 elaborated searches to find references to this watch but I could not find any. I'm sure there must be a Glycine fan here who can help me with just a confirmation that, yes, there was such a watch. I am not 100% sure about the movement but the era plus the style and similarity to other chronos from the era strongly suggests that it is powered by a 72. By the way, the purists among you may shudder, but this baby is going straight for a complete overhaul, case, dial hands and all before it comes to me. I'll
A dialin which the hours and the seconds are indicated on seperate subdials rather than on the main central dial (sweep seconds hand). The reasoning is to make the minutes hand, mounted on the centre , easier to read. The name "regulator" comes from the fact that the large pendulum clocks once used to regulate the time in watch factories and celestial observatories had that type of dial. Now you know
The one thing I love about the DSOTM is I've never seen one in the flesh. This evening I was on the SF muni going home and I saw what looked like a DS. I went up to the guy and we had a great conversation about Omega and the watch. He has the Cordora band with the new deployment buckle and I showed him my calf skin from the pitch black that I added. It was amazing how I could spot one from so far away and how I just went up and started talking. His wife looked bored lol. There is no way I would do that with a sub or Daytona. As much as I love Rolex and it is my fav watch brand I would never carry on a convo about one.
While I have been a Rolex fan most of my adult life I have not followed them closely until the last few years. Heck I had never even heard of basel world. With that said, what year did Rolex go crazy? By that I mean the release of the jewel encrusted animal prints, the flowered dials and the like? Or did this happen over a few years?
