The long path to my most recent vintage ref. 866 Ingenieur...
Though I have posted this on a couple of other IWC forums, I figured that one or two of you who have not seen it, might find it to be of interest.The first model to seriously lure me into vintage watch collecting was the ref. 666 Ingenieur. I was strongly drawn to its clean design ¨C simple, well-balanced, functional, yet also clearly high-quality. The history of IWC, and more specifically the development of the Ingenieur line was another attraction, including, of course, the Albert Pellaton designed cal. 85x series movements, and the extraordinary antimagnetic properties of the cases.I¡¯m also happy to admit that I was very attracted to the iconic lightning bolt logo, which is not only aesthetically pleasing to my eye, but also instantly sets the model line apart from all others. Just a quick hello
I just wanted to say hello.I have been interested in watches since early childhood. I currently own four ESQ's, one Swiss Army, several less expensive ones, and have a Swiss Legend on the way. I need to get a watch box to hold them now. I noticed that there weren't many sites about watches for women, so I started one (it is about fountain pens, too).I recently got my husband interested in watches, too. He is an attorney who used to never wear a watchhe said that he lived his life in hourly increments, and did not want to wear the reminder of that on his wrist. He saw one at Costco, while I was looking at one for myself. He really liked it, and decided that he wanted it. That was five months ago, and he now has four (two Invictas, and two ESQ's)! I look forward to reading and discussing watches here.

Any of you put an orange or red hand on a Speed Master w 321 or 861 movement?
Any pictures would be great if you have done this or not. Debating to get the straight arrow version or paint the one I have orange or red. Any of these correct?Thanks guys!

Estimate Received Routine Maintenance
I sent my 3710 Comet to Henri Stern in NYC for routine maintenance and case/bracelet polish. After a month of waiting just for the estimate, it came today: $1,725.I was prepared for the sticker shock when I sent it, because the prices are clearly indicated on the website (although I hadn't accounted for new hands at $120 and shipping/insurance for $50, no big deal). Here's what is really PI$$ING me off: estimated repair time after authorization is received: 20 weeks. FIVE MONTHS PEOPLE!Their most aggressive plan for maintenance is every three years. So theoretically, day one I send it in, wait a month for estimate, wait 5 months for return, wear 36 months, send it and wait a month for another estimate, wait 5 more for repair...Let's count...Over 48 months I get to wear it 36 months. 75%!They're right...You never actually own a Patek Philippe... you merely lease it! In my case, $95.83 per month for the months I can wear it.What a deal.
