New Watch, same lousy photographer
I've been procrastinating. And when I finally try to upload some pictures I realize I shouldn't really be using an iphone camera.I apologize to everyone (especially those who make a real effort and raise the bar with their uploads) for the terrible photo quality and especially to the Patek Philippe company for making the 5110P look so grimy. It's a beautiful watch, especially spectacular under direct sunlight. But then it becomes extremely difficult to get a nice picture for a man with my limited talents.About the watch - the 37mm is perfect for my 6.3 inch wrist. Platinum is unlike stainless steel or gold. You will appreciate it when you see it in person. The dial is crystal clear and sharp (you wouldn't believe it with these photos, ask Descartes if you don't believe me), and I think the watch is wasted under long sleeves. I'm looking forward to wearing it all summer. I've actually been staring at it and watching the inner dial turning very very very slowly.

Accidental Rolex
This is how it started for me. I was 19 years old and in the U.S.Army stationed in Kassel Germany. The year was 1965. A friend of mine was previously assigned to the 82nd airborne. He had a beautiful watch he used to time his jumps from the aircraft. This watch had all kinds of buttons and knobs and I was really impressed. It was an Omega Sea Master. I owned literally nothing. Even the green uniform I wore belonged to the Army. I wanted one thing I could call my own. I saved my money for a few months. It's hard to save money when your pay is $127.00 a month. I drank about $100.00 a month in that Great German Beer. One Day I got on a train and headed for Frankfort. Arriving at the Post Exchange, I headed for the watch section and asked to see an Omega Sea Master. the sales Lady informed me they were all out of Omegas, but she said We have this.She handed me a watch with no buttons, no knobs, no stop watch, no nothing. rolex is growing on me
I always had a dislike for rolex. I thought of it as a flashy/snobby/overpriced watch. I had my sights on other watches like omega, panerai, and zenith. The entire time however i always wanted a submariner. I had a love for dive watches and the sub seemed to be the best dive watch for the money. I said it would be my first and only rolex I would buy. 4 months ago I started my search and was in the market for a submariner. Although on my quest I fell in love with the Daytona. Not realizing the market I thought I could just walk into an AD and buy one for msrp. Boy was I wrong. So back in september I pulled the trigger and bought my first rolex a submariner. Now I have a new found love for rolex . I went from telling myself I would never buy a rolex besides the sub ND to planning my next rolex purchase.
