Almost one year ago I had the pleasure of reviewing the Melbourne Watch Company's Portsea models. A play on Marine chronometers, these nautically themed watches had great style, unique elements, a cool movement with calendar complications and a great price. They were, and still are, one of my favorite casual watches under $1,000. By taking a classic style and adding some modern elements, namely a layered dial that utilizes ceramic discs, they created something very successful and very wearable.To follow up the first series, Melbourne has taken the interesting approach of making a more stripped down and therein more affordable version with the Portsea Heritage. Fortis or Zeno?
I want a nice clearly readable watch, like a fleager watch. Which one would be a better value if I bought it used? Fortis or Zeno Basel? I would like at least a 45mm dia watch with numbers and hands that really glow wellAlso would like an automatic winding one.Anyone have suggestions on models, or where I can look for one used? I would like to spend about 600 USD. Thanks! Or should I just buy new?

Swiss Military Watch vs. CX Swiss Military Watch
Hi all, this is my first post here. I've been looking for a new watch and recently came across Swiss Military Watch and Charmex (CX) Swiss Military Watch. Originally, I thought maybe they were the same brand but their logos are pretty different so I started looking around. They're two different companies in Switzerland. How do they stack up against each other? Their pricing seems to be similar, the CX Swiss Military Watch models may be a little higher but that doesn't necessarily mean they're better. I'm leaning towards Swiss Military Watch just because they're a little more simplified and that's what I like. What do you guys think?Now, I know of 4 brands that use the term "Swiss Military." Interest in vintage seamaster 300
Hello all,I have recently gained an interest in the vintage seamaster 300s, similar to those made by watchco. Does anyone have any advice into sourcing one of these? There is a few interesting examples on the bay, but as usual the authenticity is questionable on some. I am particularly fond of the ones with bracelets and no date. I have done numerous searches and found lots of great information, but would like to probe the community again for some opinions. I am unsure of the rules on links but will post an example of one I have in question if allowed. I look forward to reading your responses.
