A 1917 Elgin Brought Back to Splendor....................
Hey guys ! ! ! You kind of got a sneak peek of this one, at least the dial and hands the other day.Well, testing on the movement is now complete and it is all back together now.This is a 1917 Elgin Trench Watch with an OFFSET CROWN, size 3/0s.Like I said in the teaser thread this dial style does not get much love, everybody always wants the Pershings, RED 12's, and other enamel military dial Elgins.This dial has NOT been re-finished, just a ton of hard work to bring it back to splendor.Bold Arabic font metal military dial with factory drilled hour marker lum holes.As you can see in the before pictures this one was pretty rough and in some need of help.The hands that were on this watch when I got it were the wrong ones so I have replaced them with a set of correct hands.I re-lumed the dial and hands just as they were back in 1917.I did some work on the case and installed a brand new glass crystal with UV cement and a UV curing machine.Cleaned the 7 jewel movement, it's running like a ch

Help with a Hamilton PW I just bought
Hello, first post! I just bought a Hamilton Pocket Watch and need some assistance in identifying it and finding out how to set it. Here are some pictures. It is not the prettiest, but I love the patina and the wear of it. I was told that based on the serial number it was made in 1898.IMG_3460.jpgIMG_3462.jpgIMG_3463.jpgIMG_3464.jpgIMG_3465.jpgIn one picture there is a piece of metal under the screw that moves back and forth, I thought it was the set lever, but moving it does not affect the stem. I can wind the watch, but the stem does not pull out. I was going to wait for it to stop and then wait until time matches whatever the watch says and wind it up.Thanks!George

Blue dial 15400 or Diver?
Some views please!I have a silver dial 41mm ROC and thinking of another RO to compliment it. Two watches that keep coming to mind are the standard Diver and the 15400 with the blue dial. I like the idea of the blue dial as it seems a rare beast and, well, I like blue!I know what to expect with the 41mm case and know the Offshore fits my wrist too. So, is the 15400 too much of the same as I have the ROC? There's a lot of love on here for the Diver and I think I'm leaning towards it too. Any thoughts? It is said the cornerstone of a gentleman's closet is his blue blazer. I've come to realize that the Patek 5711/1a is the equivalent for my stable. It is simple, elegant, versatile, and classic.
