Breitling A13356 wrist watches news:
to accompany my one and only AT8500. Currently pursuing a cal. 564 linen gold dial Connie, let's see how that goes ...
Hi Folks,I'm new to this forum, having lurked about on and off for the past year.I have assembled a small collection of "dollar" watches over the last twelve months or so, and have also purchased a lovely little Illinois movement that I hope to repair some day (more about that later). Now, I guess that most folks on this forum would say that "dollar" watches are not worth repairing, but I'm hoping someone can give me a few hints and tips to help me solve this problem...Several months ago I bought a 1940 Ingraham Dixie for about $20.00. It was complete and running, although the winding maechanism was a little sticky. I partially disassembled it, cleaned it, oiled it, and put the mechanism back together. Away it went like a little champion. Then the unthinkable happened - I dropped it on the floor! The mechanism landed on its side and the balance spring managed to get knocked out of shape, but everything else survived. Now, I have a 1965 Ingraham movement which works beautifully, and I cou
First impressions of the MM300 are very promising indeed. It's quite similar to my old Sea Dweller but with probably nicer, more refined case lines. The bezel functions better, too: stiff but not quite as stiff as the SD and much easier to grab and turn; smoother feel to it, too. The dial and hands are easily as good as any Rolex sports model I've owned (2 SD's, several Subs and a GMT Master II). I like the frame around the date window, very Omega SM-like and I quite like the position of the crown, though they should have signed it, IMO.The bracelet, quality and functionality-wise kicks the butt of any Sub/SD. The clasp is a real dive clasp and so it should be. The bracelet is heavier and more solid than the SD's, too. I've never been a fan of the polished bits between the links and I still think this watch would be aesthetically more pleasing with the more standard link bracelet but I'm getting use to it. It wears a little wider than its' 20mm, feeling more like a 22mm, IMO. Everythin
Early 2000's Fossil Arkitekt with a solar powered Ronda 505. Very few of these these cutting edge watches were ever made or sold. Their biggest down fall was the size of the solar panel that had to be connected at all times. Most/all consumers felt the panel was simply too big and cumbersome for everyday wear. I just think it's an interesting piece of history that predates Citizen Eco-Drives and Seiko Solars by 10+ years. It was just too bad that the technology wasn't where it needed to be at the time because this was really just ahead of it's time thinking in my opinion.IMG_0516.jpg
