Breitling AB041012/F556-ocean-racer-blue-deployant wrist watches news:
On November 14 and 15 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Geneva, Antiquorum will hold its 35th anniversary sale, and among the more than 300 timepieces to be offered is one that should make any horology aficionado breathe a bit faster… a Patek Philippe Calibre 89 from the Matsuda Collection. With 33 complications, this is the world’s most complicated timepiece. Patek created only 4 examples of the Calibre 89: one each in yellow, pink, and white gold, and one in platinum. This piece, lot 364, is in yellow gold. It was previously sold by Antiquorum on April 9, 1989 in the “Art of Patek Philippe” sale to commemorate the brand’s 150th anniversary. The presale estimate is 4.5 to 5 million Swiss francs. Previews will be held in Hong Kong November 6 & 7, and in Geneva November 12 to 15. For additional information about the sale, including high-resolution images, visit antiquorum. You may also click the image below to view a larger version.
Here at HODINKEE HQ, we have been talking about the Powerball A LOT lately. We all (shamelessly) have bought tickets and are waiting with bated breath until the numbers are drawn tonight. Naturally, we all have talked about what we would do if we won and the obvious question has been, "What watch would you buy?" I say attempt, because the Space Traveller is a one-of-a-kind watch that was last sold at auction on November 6, 2012 for 1,329,250 GBP. I would have to somehow find the current owner, and convince them to part ways with their unique piece of horological history. Finished in 1982, the Space Traveller is George Daniels' masterpiece. Yesterday, I was setting the time on my Diver going counterclockwise and after going back three to four hours the hands quit moving but the crown would still rotate freely. This happened several times, which was really odd. Anyone has experienced anything like this?Since the watch is still well under warranty, I decided to send the watch to AP and see what's going on. Anyway I had to send it at one point to get the watch checked in order to get my third year warranty. Missing my Diver so much!!!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Watches are the new currency!
