Watch companies here spent an estimated $535.36 million on advertising in 2014, according to Kantar Media, which tracks advertising by brand for a range of products across all media channels. On Saturday, November 8, Heritage Auctions is selling four timepieces possibly owned by President Harry S. Truman: an engraved Movado religious coin watch, a Baylor presented to President Truman in Texas, a gold-plated Vulcain Cricket, and a steel Longines. While we can say with confidence that the Movado and Baylor were Truman's, I don't believe we can be certain on the other two. Why?Back in February, Doyle New York auctioned some jewelry from the estate of Margaret Truman Daniel, the only child of President Harry S. Truman and First Lady Bess Truman. Stopped in my favorite AD this afternoon to pick up a couple of new straps and behold what was sitting in the estate case....circa 1955/56 yellow gold 2526. Of the 50+ pieces in the case, this one stood out to me the most. Unfortunately, no box or paper and a good chunk of the porcelain dial is missing between 9 & 10 o'clock. The wrist presence is simply amazing and timeless. I can live without the box & paper but the cracked dial...
