The fourth edition of the biennial Only Watch Charity Auction was held at the Hotel Hermitage in Monaco on September 23, in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. The sale brought an outstanding €4,563,000, doubling the 2009 results. The auction room was full and the sale generated intense internet and telephone bidding from around the world. Watch makers aren't know to be the most social people, but ask them the right questions, and they open up like a crack in the Hoover Dam. So after taking pictures of a spring bar tool I am planning to sell I decided it was time for some new pics of my 2254 and PO. Now I do not have the same skills in photography as many of you but I know a few things and those few things, along with paying attention to the detail of your pictures (angle, etc.), have helped me along with my picture taking. As some might know, my camera is a Sony Cyber-shot, 8.5 megapixal. Not what the professionals use. This camera has served me well except in one area: close ups. I was only able to get so close to my watches before the image would go blurry.This was the closest I have been able to get......until now. I know optical zoom is better than digital zoom. So I decided to put that principal into action by using, well you will have to wait until after looking at my pictures. And everyone please tell me what you think of them and what I should work on. There's a listing on the Swamp - 260879621803 - for an Elgin Deluxe that purports to have a 559, 21j movement. That would be the wrong movement for that case (should be the 17j 558), but the real problem is that the movement, particularly the train bridge, looks funny.Here's what a 21j Elgin 15/0 movement looks like:That's the 538, predecessor to the 559. Notice the three oval cap jewel settings on the escape, 3rd, and 4th wheels. Those things are inletted and there's a screw that comes in from underneath the bridge to hold the setting in place. They're a PITA to put in, BTW.The watch in the listing is billed as a 559, it says '559' and '21 jewels', but instead of the hole-and-cap jewelling of the 559, it's got standard hole jewels (with the oil cup on top), NO inletting, and NO holes for the screws. I realize this is one of those weird little things that like 5 guys in the whole world know or care about, but I'm mystified. Even if you replaced the jewels on a 559 with standard j
