Breitling A2736234/G615 wrist watches news:
Hi,I'm currently looking to purchase my first IWC watch and have selected the Portuguese Chronograph (IW371417). I've been researching the internet for the best prices in the Europe/US and was wondering if anyone has any experience, or recommendations that could share. The recommended retail price in the UK is ¡ê4750 (approx $6800).I'm travelling from the UK to California in June & July and have thought I might get a better price in the US.I would be happy to purchase in Europe or the US, especially with the current exchange rates on the Euro. Any help and advice would be appreciated.ThanksMatt

I always admired the Gerald Genta designs of the 1970s. Think Patek Philippe Nautilus, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo, Vacheron Constantin Overseas and .. the IWC Ingenieur SL. All of them are way out of my budget, but as I came to think of it.. the - in 2005 introduced - IWC Ingenieur ref.3227-01 with its inhouse pellaton-winding system movement, is also based on the original GG design. I contacted an IWC dealer in Amsterdam (there are lots of IWC dealers in the Netherlands, as the brand is very populair since a few years) and discussed the Ingenieur and its price ;). I admire the Ingenieur for its 'engineered' construction with the anti-magnetic softiron innercase, the nicely crafted case and bracelet, the very detailed dial and the shiny markers and hands. The watch has this industrial look which you can love or just hate... Only a few people I showed the watch in real seemed to like it ;). It probably wouldn't be different with the other 1970s GG designed watches. I also like the
I'm curious to get everyone's opinion on presentation watches. Do you feel engravings add or subtract from the watch? Does anyone have a presentation watch in their collection?
I ordered it last Thursday and received it late yesterday. Excellent service from Gnomonwatches in Singapore. Some initial comments:Styling is quite unlike anything else I've seen. Quality of fit and finish are outstanding, as is typical of Steinhart. For me ( 7 1/4 inch wrist ) the watch wears large at 45mm by 56 mm, and I am already at the last position on the strap. The strap itself is 24mm wide and 4mm thick and quite stiff as it comes new. The bracelet ( sold separately ) will be along in a day or two so I'll follow up with photos when it is fitted. The 31.5mm diameter, flat crystal is slightly above the height of the bezel, and the bezel itself is the same finished stainless steel as the case, and completely flat. So the susceptibility to bezel scratching is somewhat increased. For me the overall look is one of understated elegance. I see myself wearing this watch in most any situation. No doubt different straps/bracelets will give it different looks. If you have any further question
