I have a 2254.50, I wonder how you can tell when the watch was made? Where do you go to check serial number of a watch? Mine is 81547xxxAlso, if I was to buy a vintage watch, can I prove it's authenticity by the serial number?Thanks

My First Hamilton. . . in 24 years!
On New Years Day, my wife and I were doing a little shopping so we visited our local BJ's, which had carried a few select Hamilton watches from time-to-time.Well, they must have known that the new Hamilton Watch Forum was kicking off yesterday and in honor of the event, they had about 8 Hamilton watches on clearance and so I picked up this very nice quartz Khaki Field watch for 99 bucks. Three days ago, I priced the watch at an AD and they were asking $179. So here it is with a few initial comments:This model I think just dropped out of the Hamilton 2007 catalog. It is the Khaki Field S.W.A.T. The nicely engraved caseback says SWISS MADE, SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL, and STAINLESS STEEL and it water resistant for up to 50 meters. It has a nice, thick rubber strap with lots of lettering on the underside.The strap clasp has HAMILTON engraved on it and a "H" is engraved on the crown.This is one of the 38 mm dials but it wears almost like a 40 mm. Group Pictures and What's the next?
This was the first group picture of my collectionAfter 4 years trades and acquisitions, the group picture was taken again. As you can see I am a modern watch guy, collecting the watches from popular brands. I either buy used watches or good discounted new watches. I payed full price at the AD for the 5711 and 116520 though.To me, the collecting watches is not spending money, it is transforming the money to another format. The difference in the bank account is just one digit, for example x50,000 to x30,000, but the difference in your life and mind is totally different. I enjoy waring the watches everyday, touch them everyday, physical feel the quality they bring you. I can't feel such a happiness if I have one digit difference in the bank account. Wow, you guys were right. This might be the perfect watch.Size? Perfect.Dial? Perfect.Glidelock? Brilliant.Bezel? Perfect.I traded an Explorer 214270 and a Sea Dweller 16600 plus cash for the SD43. Recently both those just felt too small, and I realized how much I use the date function so I rarely wore either.I’m trilled, best decision ever.For reference, my wrist is about 6.75”, and it wears more like a 41mm imo.Photo with a PAM1312 and DJII 116334.Thanks to Davidsw, a true gentleman and a pleasure to deal with.What’s next? Big Pilot maybe. Or a Chrono...IWC Pilot Chrono or Speedy. Maybe a DaytonaC if prices ever come back to earth.
