A Black Duck Custom winder
I've had a project in the back of my head for a while now and it's finally coming to the front. I've found that I would like a watch winder but can't seem to save for one while saving for more wrist candy and better wrist candy. Ive decided to build one. That's right build one. I've got a few proto-type pieces already made and most of this will be made from found objects or things I was going to get rid of.Here are a couple of my garden trains thataren't exactly up to the task anymore. The above 4-6-0 locomotive and matching tender below have been getting canabalized to make other trains work and will donate more parts to this project.This combine passenger/mailcar will become a rail-side diner once the last truck is removed and donated to the winder project.This little logging engine has also made it's last run and will most likely be part of the diner once the motor and a few gears have been donated.This piece if 1-1/2" ID PVC pipe seems to be a perfect candidate to hold the watch in

Buying my first fine timepiece
Hello. I posted on this board about two years ago inquiring about buying a Rolex Submariner and agreed, after some advice from board users, that it was best to wait (I was 19 at the time, 21 now). Well, two years later, my financial situation is better and I am going to reward myself for getting into a good law school with my first nice wristwatch. My heart has always been with a black SS Rolex Submariner and so that is one.I am looking for any advice as I have never purchased anything like this before. My only watch is a Movado made from tungsten that was a high school graduation gift from my dad (may not impress watch aficianados but I really like it). An AD in Florida offered to discount 16% off of the retail price while I have found a nice used one from a reputable dealer for $4000 CDN (I'm from Canada). I want to keep this watch for the rest of my life and hopefully pass it on to my first born son if I have one.Any advice, no matter how generic, will be appreciated. Thanks for you

Question about RO Dual Time/Regular
Hi Everyone!So I've been researching and am set on adding a RO to my collection, but in hunting for the right one, I've ended up with a few questions that I haven't been able to find the answers for.While I know RO dual time models retail for 22,000, I was initially shocked to find that ones in excellent used condition sell here (and elsewhere) for anywhere between 11.5-13k (even found one at 9000, which may have been too good to be true) while I've seen regular RO (3120 Calibers) sell for 12,000 around the forum as well. Is there a reason for this other than the fact that the Dual Time uses a JLC movement and a different caseback while 15450/15400 are fully in-house? I was a bit surprised to find that the more complicated pre-loved Dual Times sold around the same price as 15400/15450s

thoughts on VC to complete the trinity?
any current owners of or opinions on the vacheron overseas 3-hand auto?I'm intrigued with the idea of adding the blue dial version (the recent generation) to complete the trinity next to the pp5712 and AP jumbo.
