Konstantin Chaykin Cinema Watch
New for 2013, our favorite Russian watch maker Konstantin Chaykin will release a rather amazing new timepiece called the Cinema. The piece is a poetic nod to the early era of film making and specifically honors the inventor of the zoopraxiscope, Eadweard Muybridge. The zoopraxiscope is credited as being probably the world's first movie projector, and was produced around 1879. Using a wheel with a series of pictures on it, the machine was able to project an animated image. This complication is actually built into the Cinema watch, being Konstantin Chaykin's very first attempt at such a feature, and the only one that we are aware of in a wrist watch.In the video below you can see a demonstration of the animation complication in action. Activating the left crown causes a disc to spin rapidly under the dial in what appears to be a magnified window. The illusion creates an animation of a man riding a galloping horse. The subject is no coincidence, as the original mechanism was apparently fi

I believe this one got by trading a $300, shotgun for it 15 or so years past has a gold train that was not in all of these. Maybe possible to verify from photo and serial number?

BLNR rejection at AD
Whilst visiting my local AD today I witnessed a customer who had arrived at the dealer after getting the call that his new Rolex GMT BLNR had just arrived! Whilst he was left alone for a few minutes to look at the BLNR in more detail I took the opportunity to make comment on the watch. To cut a long story short, he was underwhelmed when he saw the watch in the flesh and actually passed on the opportunity to buy the watch! He was wearing a black faced explorer II and thought the BLNR was too small in comparison. He also thought the blue was brighter than he had expected and didn't think it was a watch he could use for everyday wear like the explorer. He had intended to trade his explorer against the BLNR but in the end decided to put the safety catch back on and not pull the trigger! I couldn't believe what I was witnessing.I guess it was a lucky day for the guy next on the list. During a chat over a coffee with one of the owners of the AD about the usual availability of SS models and B
