What was it that brought you to collect Hamiltons?
I am just curious about the reasons of others around here. What was it for you and why do you collect Hamiltons?For me it was a kind of meandering around until I became a collector of vintage Hamiltons. I was always fascinated by those old movies of the socalled Golden Era and the style of certain things in the twenties and thirties. I also devoured the books from people like Raymond Chandler and the like. Well and then I am fascinated in general by the style and art of the first half of the twentieth century, being it art noveau, art deco and what's called Bauhaus (I was born in Weimar and came into contact with the latter during my childhood).Besides that I am a big fan of the fashion of that time and what could be better thant to wear the right watches for it. But that only got me into some light interest into looking what watches were made then. What me really brought to collecting them was something completly different. Is this a reasonable price for a speedy 9300 strap?
I found a seller of an oem 21mm croc straps for a speedmaster with caliber 9300. He is selling it for $400. It is supposedly new.Is that price below Msrp at an AD? I don't have any AD near by but I'll be taking a trip in 4 months where there will be an AD I can visit.I already have the oem deployment. If you are wondering :)Thanks for any advice!

Patek making life difficult
Guys,It seems to me that enjoying and collecting Patek watches is tough at this point in time. Many of the hot references are almost like seeking unobtainium. I am only thinking of the current references. The 5524 and 5711 blue dial are going for over list. The 5930 is seldom found (although it is in it's infancy). Nautilus's are tougher than ever to source. All this frustration is painful and yet in the end it really helps all of us protect our so called investment. (I struggle calling a watch an investment).Love them or hate them, Patek and their AD's do a good job protecting their brand yet I still find them so frustrating to predict and work with. Perhaps this varies depending upon where you live. I am thrilled I have a 5711 and empathize with those wanting one. Here is where I will get bashed - but for me I do think they should limit the availability on those who call the 5711 and 5167 as entry watches. I believe they should be made available to clients who have purchased other mo
