Yet Another Moonwatch Polishing thread
Hi all. This is Yet Another in the long tradition of threads that involve our hesalite-covered friend, the 3570.50. Like many before me, I was worried I would scratch the crystal all to hell, and it had me wavering between the sapphire sandwich and the actual moonwatch. Like so many before me, the allure of the legend won out, and I bought the scratch-prone original.And was I wrong? No, I did indeed scratch the crystal to hell. But I have just polished it for the first time. It put my mind at ease: I returned the watch to a beautiful, scratch-free position, and proved to myself I wouldn't ruin the thing in the process. I thought I'd leave this photo essay to help put at ease anyone who is wondering if the 3570.50 is right for them.I'd heard that brasso is fine, but too coarse to do a really good job at polishing. Art Deco Watch Movement?
Hi, Would like some help with ID my watch. My Jeweller states that it is an example from the art deco period, and states that the movement was replaced with a modern one from the 50s.I have uploaded some pics below, was wondering if anyone out there knows what the original calibre the original movement would have been.The current (new) movement is a 15.18 - is there any compatible movement from the 1920s that would suit my watch?
