I came of age in the 1960¡¯s and 1970¡¯s in New England. If you asked most of my schoolmates back then what they wanted to be when they grew up, most would have said a fireman, policeman, cowboy, politician, lawyer, doctor, teacher, sailor¡­. just about anything but a watchmaker. The average age of watchmakers in the 1960¡¯s and 1970¡¯s was around 50 years old, and it seemed, at least in the United States, to be a dying breed, perhaps even an endangered species. Americans didn¡¯t value watchmakers as highly skilled technicians, as they did in Switzerland and other European communities, they more or less saw them as the equivalent of a plumber, electrician, house painter or refrigerator repair man. Recent Acquisition # 3 - Hamilton Frogman
I really didn't have this model of Frogman in mind when I started looking...Saw one at an AD and it gained favor....Saw one FSBO and couldn't pass it up! I sold a Valjoux 7750 (Philip) and bought this, and have money left over! Not much but Ihave some left overThis watch is FAT...It rides tall in the saddle and weighs in at 164 grams. If I had to be critical, it would be that the pushers for the chrono are split in two (see pic) so they are hard for me to push one without pushing the other....But who uses the chrono anyway right?

Hi there!I am looking to get a new dress watch and I cannot decide between 5205r black dial and 5396g with breguet numerals. I will be my first patek and i have a SubC for daily. I was in San Francisco today looking at watches, saw some great Rolex at Tourneau, failed completely at checking out a Royal Oak, and even though I wasn't sold on Patek at all after looking at them on the net I ended up trying on an Aquanaut.Holy crap it is simply amazing. The sales guy tried a hard sell using rarity, financing, layaway, anything to sell it then. I normally buy from their Palo Alto AD so I called my salesperson and asked about rarity and how difficult it is to get one in. She said they don't get them in much and if I wanted it she could send it down from the main office and I could compare to the bracelet version. A quick deposit later and well... Despite never thinking I'd get a Patek I'm going to buy one next Saturday.Now as for the watch itself, the net does no justice to how it looks and feels on the wrist. Hi guys.I own a Batman and a 36mm 116234 DJ the former having the new oyster bracelet and the latter the Super Jubilee. Wishing to swap between the two, can someone confirm that it can be done, and provide the serials for any parts needed.My understanding is that I will need new end links for both watches and in particular the 502T for the Batman. Correct?What end links would be needed for the DJ?Thanks!
