HelloWas hoping some watch experts could help. I just turned 40 and am finally financially ready to buy my first decent watch. I have always loved fine watches and now have saved and feel comfortable purchasing one. I am torn between the Patek Nautilus and Rolex Daytona Panda. They are about the same price so that is not an issue. As far as look I like both, I am slightly thinking about resale value just incase I would have to sell it for financial reasons, but this is not the top of the list decision factor. I know from reading they are both great brands. But seems among collectors Patek is considered the Rolls Royce and Rolex is considered mercedes (not my quote but a collectors). I know some of the decision is personal taste but any other factors like quality, resale, and or collect ability. Feel free to add your personal opinion as well. I love hearing knowledgable speak about watches, I am learning a lot!thanks you
I thought some of you would enjoy this interview from the past from Invicta CEO Eyal Lalo.I have a lot of respect for all the collectors and for the high end watch collectors who probably don't like the products being sold so cheap.( INVICTA WATCHES)RP: Richard Paige - TimeZone.comEL: Eyal LaloRP: Could you tell me about the background of the company?EL: I'm a third generation watchmaker from a family in Switzerland. I have the Invicta distribution for the Latin American market, and I own the brand. My family marketed Invicta in the European markets and other markets including the Middle East in the 1970's. That's where the brand is big. The brand started in 1886. The booming years of popularity were in the 70s up to 1973, 1974. We also produced military watches for Switzerland during the war. My grandmother had a lot to do with the Invicta brand in her days. She still supervises the collection.RP: Was the company making new movements up to that time also?EL: No, the populari
Lucien Rochat 18K gold, automatic day date, with moon phase.Came across this watch, I like it so much and want to keep it as a Valentine's Day gift to my wife.Need some comments and suggestions from you guys, about the quality and value. Anxiously waiting, thanks so much.
I am starting to debate my next Patek purchase. I am dead set on either getting the 5970 or the new 5270. I like the 5970r aesthetically the most and the 5970p the second most but there is a big difference in price. I am debating going with the new 5270. Obviously it is only made in white at this time. I would love your overall thoughts and thoughts on short and long term collectibility of each piece. Thanks in advance!
