Anyone seen this before?
Hello Gang...Been a little busy lately, but thought it was time for a little IllinoisSpotlight, that won't entirely break the bank. This little guy is called the "Square Cut Corner" and many listingson the swamp and those folks that still don't have Fred Friedberg's excellent book, incorrectly call it a "Bennett." The Name Bennett was listed in one of the first price guides...naming it after the son of one of the expert Illinois consultants (FJF)The case colors and variations are mind boggling, but here are a few:Yellow and White gold filled (Plain Bezel)White and Green gold filled (Engraved Bezel)Here is a wild Two Tone with Gold Numbers...The sides are beautifully engravedThe detail on the bezel is really intense:I had a bunch of these and decided to pop the hoods to see what was underneathsome fun stuff!Out of the 6, 5 had 15J movements and one had a 17JHalf were made by Keystone and the other StarThis little guy was a shockerSOLID GOLD! Keystone:The Square Cut corner is a quite commo
I am fortunate to have a Steinhart Ocean Vintage GMT and a Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military. These watches are so similar on paper, but so different to the eye and on the wrist. Both watches have a 42mm case, but while the GMT is 14mm thick, the OVM is 13mm thick. They both weigh 190 grams and both have the same bracelets. Both watches have ETA movements, but the GMT has a 2813-2 movement while the OVM has the 2824-2 movement. The watches have different lume since the GMT has the Super Luminova C3 while the OVM has Super Luminova "old radium".The GMT costs 353 Euros (w/o VAT) while the OVM costs 295 Euros (w/o VAT). The GMT has a date wheel and the GMT hand while the OVM has neither. The GMT has the classic Rolex Explorer look from the 80's while the OVM has the classic Rolex Sub ( English Royal Navy) look from the 70's.Thus from my point of view, while these two watch have so much in common they are very different watches. I have to say, I'm enjoying both! Cheers, Bill P.

Hello everyone,I'm new to these forums. Been reading from the outside in for about 2 weeks now (but very extensively) as I look to buy my first luxury wristwatch. It's a pretty exciting phase for me at the moment, graduating university in a few months with a full time contract in place for work, and now that I'm entering the business world I really want to look my best - so I decided to look into watches. Somehow I've become extremely fascinated in them with just ~20 hours of research and learning put into the subject.I've narrowed down my options to two models of the Omega Speedy Pro. They are 1) The typical NASA Approved 3570.50 or 2) 3573.50. I will also be getting an authentic Omega leather band with whichever one I end up purchasing, so that I can have both steel bracelet and leather strap to choose from. From what I understand, they are identical except that the 3573.50 has a sapphire crystal cover and bottom (which is transparent), meanwhile the 3570.50 has a Hesalite crystal on
