Why is the number 4 on Roman style dials written as IIII?
Why is the number 4 on Roman style dials written as IIII?That question I was recently asked by one of our retailers in the Middle East.Frankly speaking, I was taken aback as I had never contemplated the why but just carried on what my grand-father had done.So, I started diving into the topic in more detail and noted that on most watch dials following the Roman way of numbering the number 4 is written as IIII. The correct way would be IV, however.I then started asking some of my fellow watch manufacturers and mind you no-one could come up with an answer. It seemed as if we all just had not paid any attention to the why.When I started looking at some more dials, I noted that the first four numbers (I, II, III, IIII) are composed of dashes only, the next four (the middle ones so to speak) contain a "V" (V, VI, VII, VIII) and the last four digits are composed using an "X" IX, X, XI, XII). Best Option For 45mm PO trade to 42mm PO
I have a 45mm 2500 PO that I have recently decided is slightly too large for my wrist. I believe that the 42 would be a better fit. Does anyone have any advice about the best way to go about sourcing a 42mm? Should I look for a straight up trade with a trusted seller on TRF? Or sell mine first and look to purchase a 42mm with the proceeds? My AD does not deal in used watches so that is isn't an option, unfortunately. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Considering parting from my Omega SMP Chrono
I'm considering parting with my Omega SMP Chrono as I've falled in love again with the first chrono that I actually liked and that is the Breitling Chrono Avenger.I know the pros on the Omega is that it has pushers that can work under water, build like a tank, comfy bracelet. Cons, I find that the sub dials are harder to read at a glance.Pros on Chrono Avenger: Light Titanium case, bezel is solid titanium hence no insert to scratch, dial easier to read at a glance, bracelet comfy as hell.Has anyone owned both watches at one time to give me their 0.2 cents?

Falling back in love...with my 673
Something about this watch just keeps drawing me back.Due to a couple of Rolex incomings this year, a SubC LN in March & a TT LB in December my trusty little 673 hasn't seen much sunlight these past few months.I even considered trading her at one point just prior to the LB purchase but something stopped me actually doing the dirty deed at the last minute...Anyway, now I've come back to my senses I'm pleased to say I've decided she's a keeper.Well, I mean, just look at her - she's a stunner!... lol Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
