Cartier 82128 wrist watches news:
Nearly all dive watches have a rotating bezel (in fact most would not call a watch without a rotating bezel a diver at all), and the purpose of the bezel is to time things, specifically dive times, right?Bear with me, I'm getting to it...A lot of bezels have a red (or contrasting colour) indication from the zero mark to the 15 mark - see pic below:My question, and apologies if this is really stooopid, but why is the red 'zone' from 0 to 15, instead of 45 to 0???I would have thought that you would want a warning area on the bezel as you were approaching the one hour mark, ie, when the air in your tank is running low.Or is the red zone meant as a warning that you are OVER your safe limit of one hour?I'm confused because putting the red zone from 0 to 15 doesn't allow you to use it to countdown to anything - if you set the bezel to zero at whatever time you start timing something, it is in the red zone for the first 15 minutes of timing, which doesn't seem to make sense to me. Cany anyone
It pays to be jaded and skeptical about the statement "just serviced" in an eBay listing. I never, ever believe it and plan on adding the cost of a COA to the price. After wearing the watch once or twice it goes to Sam for proper care. Well, I've been testing this recent acquisition...watchtalkforums.info/foru...-incoming.html...and I'm starting to believe the seller was truthful about it being just serviced. It keeps time to within a few seconds a day, and the power reserve is 56.5 hours. I had to check it twice to make sure I didn't mess up the date & time I started checking it. I don't think I've ever come across a vintage watch from eBay that performed as well on arrival. It's still making the next trip to Sam's shop with me for pictures, but I don't think he'll have much to do to it. I'll post them when I get a few good shots - I want the Seamaster column wheel caliber 321 next to the De Ville cam caliber 861 for a comparison.
I didn't realise we had a watchmaker on the Isle of Man! I saw his advert n the airport so I have just checked out his website.Hope you find it as interesting as I did rwsmithwatches/
